Washing Machine is one of the best inventions of man. I can say this because of the kind of comfort it has brought into our lives. It was in early 90's when I first saw a washing machine. It was a wonder indeed! As a kid I was thoroughly amazed at my first Videocon Washing Machine, its ability to wash and dry clothes without much strain made it a wonder.
Now after 20 years things have drastically changed with a lot many features and facilities implying additional comfort for the user.
When I planned to buy a washing machine my focus was on the basics like washing and drying. I didn't want to invest more as my intention was to use it for 5 years. My budget was only 10,000. Keep all my requirements and after a bit of online research I decided to buy Godrej GWS 620FS. Surprisingly, there are a lot of positive reviews about it online and just after 6 months I realized that one cannot trust Godrej when it comes to Electronics. A Godrej Almirah or any furniture for that matter can be used for decades but not Electronics.
The Features -
Semi-Automatic Washing Machine - The machine comes with the tag 'Semi Automatic' implying that it can operate on it own and needs timely attention of the user.
6.2 kg Washing Capacity - One can wash upto 6.2 kgs of clothes comfortably.
Power Consumption- 300 W
Notification - Ends with a Buzzer.
Warranty- Comes with One Year warranty and few outlets also offer 2 years. The Warranty doesn't cover the plastic components, it covers only the Electronic.
Body - Exterior - Metal ; Interior - Plastic.
Weight - Easy to move/lift.
No Wheel Support - The product doesn't come with the stand/wheel support. However, you can buy one for 300 rupees.
Service and Support -
When I bought the Washing Machine, a service man came to help me understand how to operate and the basic Dos and Don'ts. He also got a stand for the machine.
Initial Support and Service was decent but when I called them at the time of utmost need the attitude was completely different.
The Problem: My Experience with Godrej
For the initial six months I didn't face any problem with the machine. However, after the smooth journey the machine started troubling.
The first problem I experience was with the drain, even after turning on the drain knob the water was blocked. I contacted customer care as the warranty period was on. But they didn't respond to the complain, though the ticket was registered right after the first call. After repeated calls the executive came and resolved the issue. Within a few weeks a new problem started. Now the water flow was constant with/without turning the drain knob. Unless and until the pipe was fixed onto the machine the water flow didn't stop.
I immediately called the customer care and I waited for two days for them to respond. Later when I called them I was told my complain was cancelled...! Again I had to register a new complain which again took 4 days for the executive to come and resolve.
The knobs aren't of good quality either and repeated usage of the machine might easily spoil that too..! I bought this machine for 8,300 and regret my purchase. So if you are looking for a durable option please do not choose Godrej. An investment of 2,000 more can certainly give you better options to choose. You can rather go for Videocon or Whirlpool which are much better than Godrej..!
