HISTORY:

Little is know about the early history of goa, although there are references to it in the epic poems RAMAYANA and MAHABHARATA. Its political history can be traced back to 200 BC When goa formed a part of maurya empire. After passing through many kingdom's of all times portugese got hold of it in the end of 1400's.They made it their capital later on 1557. Goa was made theARCHBISHOPRIC with authority all over India, including MOZAMBIQUE and JAPAN.

Then later in 1900,s The liberation in goa gained the momentum. The liberation movement became stronger after indian independance in the year 1947.The later due to the break down of relationship between india and portugal indian Troops invaded goa in 1961. goa was made indian territory in 1962 and a state in 1987.
