I am an ex-student of GIM of the batch of 2003,and trust me the Academic Quality is one of the best, better than even the best of the B-Schools as we have got 4-5 permanent Faculties who are Fellows(P.Hd) from IIM's. This is one thing not many B-Schools can boast of. Also the Curriculum structure is very well-balanced making all the students a well rounded manager, and a genaral manager, not to say that no specialisations are offered but still in todays's Corporate World one needs to be a General Manager having knowledge of all the fields and not being rigid.
Talking about the Infrastrucure, every room is connected via-Intranet, and we have hostels to accomodate every student. The Institute is located on the lovely bank of River Mandovi. The locales are awesome. We have 3 messes in the campus, and every facility is available right on your doorstep. Even a Bar is right across the Institute. Don't be surprised its Goa afterall.
The placement scene has also improved considerably since the last 2-3 years. This time 78 students were placed on the first day itself of the Placement Week, the average salaries are not mind boggling but decent enough.
Also Goa is a great place to be in while spending two very important years of life. After hours and hours of slogging you can easily go 4 kms down the road and you would find a beach to relax and chill. Plus in the Tourist season, its awesome.
As all my review has been on the positive aspects of the Institute, now some negative ones also, GIM faces a Locational Disadvantage as its in Goa and not in Mumbai or Bangalore, so we dont get very good visiting Faculty thats why the focus on Permanent Faculty. Other than that there are one which I can think of.
All in All, 3 years back I had 3 final calls, 2 in institutes which were in my Hometown and 1 in goa but I opted for Goa after doing a bit of research, and I bet I made the right decision. Considering the fact that currently I am working in one of the leading HR Consulting firms and doing pretty well for myself...
