Three friends, booze, babes and Goa - you are gone for sure. Add some flesh eating dead people, the mixture becomes deadlier. Adopting the west and adapting the west has a thin line between them and this movie stands on it and like a tightrope walker in a circus it thrills and entertains us but not without some concerns in parts. While Zombies might not be new to us( we have seen a lot of it in Hollywood)  but this kind of an Indian adaptation was not expected and while ghosts, daayans and chudails might have caught the fancy of newbie film makers, the Zombie land has so far been an uncharted territory for them. Go Goa Gone is a risky move by has paid off quit well.

The Plot revolves around the story of three friends Hardik( played by Kunal Khemu), Luv( played by Vir Das) and Bunny( played by Anand Tiwari) and an adventure in Goa gone awfully wrong. It all starts when starts when a jobless Hardik and a loveless Luv( ironically) decides to tag along with Bunny on an office trip to Goa -  a land known for its babes, booze and rave. Meanwhile they come across Luna( played by Puja Gupta) who invites them to a rave party that goes horribly wrong due to drug converting most of the revelers into Zombies who are now behind the trio. Then comes a half Russian - half Desi Zombie buster Boris (played by Saif) who is the creator and consprator of these troubles.

This is a very unconventional way of making a zombie movie and it is good to see film makers treading this path. The story has been carefully adopted from the western concept and has been mixed with dark humor to give you a cracker of a movie with a really powerful social message as well. The best thing about the movie is that it does not go overboard with horror that sometimes makes a movie very depressing. At no time would make you feel as if it is a horror movie but still retains the charm of one with enough humor to keep you laughing till the very end. The narrative is absolutely fantastic and keeps the movie on track almost all the times. Kudos to the producers who have given a go ahead to this concept.

The trio of Kunal, Vir and Anand creates one heck of a laugh riot. Kunal has largely remained an underarted actor who's top notch performances haven;t recieved the acclaim that they should have. He has played this role with perfection. Vir and Anand is no less entertaining either. But the standout character still has been that of Borris - the half russian - half desi Russian don played by Saif who plays it with unmatched charisma and has revelled in the role. He is cocky and Vulgar at times though it suits our taste and also has a fake Russian accent which finally gives into the fraud in him. Puja has been the sole eye candy of the movie, for obvious reasons (others are dead anyway). But unfortunately her role restricts her to be one which is the only negative aspect in the cast.

Unlike the movie, I found the songs a little too depressing. The songs were not apt for a movie of this calibre and the lyricist has done a shabby job. While some might have foudn them quirky and amusing, I found it flat irritating though the background score is nice and matches the theme of the movie quite well.

On the whole this is a refreshing new take on the overused hollywood concept and has a good mix of humor and horror. It may not be made for the families but the party animals in the country will surely love it.
