Gmail – I’ve been using gmai account from past 2-3 years. I’m a regular net surfer and gmail is definitely on my hit list. Gmail for me is not “Google mail” but it's “Great mail”. Our World Wide Web is flooded with websites which provides e-mail account facility- indiatimes, yahoo, hotmail, rediffmail, msn etc.... are the ones to name a few… But I personally and confidently feel gmail is the best of all after having account on every possible website.
It provides 2 gb storage space which is enough for any amount of mails. Although Rediffmail provides unlimited space but that’s not so user friendly. Gmail is not only very easy to create but is very easy to maintain and use. It’s user friendly.
Gmail detects spam and stores them automatically in a separate folder. Gmail provides an internal chatting facility in the account itself. We can know the on-line status of our loved ones and known ones who’re gmail users on the spot while using e-mail account. It’s pop3 that means free mail account and allows outlook to be used freely.
It’s virus free - In addition to virus protection that automatically scans attachments and tries to remove any viruses found in them, it is ad free-There are no pop-ups or banner ads in Gmail, and very little spam..
At the same time it respects its user’s privacy, gmail just scans the viruses and doesn’t reads or misuses the official and confidential mails.
Gmail is faster and cleaner then other websites. For example, Gmail automatically groups an email and its replies into a conversation, so you can easily follow the back and forth of an email exchange. There’s a facility to label the mails, and star them. Searching any mails is very easy from inbox and sent items. Messages can be sent and read in most languages. The Gmail interface is available in 40 languages. Gmail can be accessed even through cell phones. Calendar, photo gallery, organizer, document etc are the same services provided by most of the e-mail account websites.
The only drawback that I personally feel is , there’s no facility to make different folders. Although we can put mails under label or star them or even search them, yet it lacks folder facility. Lastly its first page seems to be too monotonous and simple. It’s like nothing new in it. The advantages are many to over shadow the drawbacks. I’m fully satisfied with google and in fact I’ve created a bond with it !!!!!!
