'The Best'...so far. Review on Gmail.com

Well, no doubts about it, Gmail is the best web based email that the world has seen till date. Its still in beta, and you get a gmail account only if someone sends you an invite, gosh, they have made it a privelege to have a gmail account, and I like that, it does to a great extent, reduce spam mails that we dont want to see when we open our mail boxes.

Dont ever delete a mail... ever

1GB of storage space, and hotmail was giving us a paltry 2MB (it still is), dont even delete your trash mails now ;) I am a power mail user and I have just about filled up 2% in more than a months usage, which would approximately take me another 4 years to fill my mail box, thats not bad at all.

Dont ever miss a mail

You know how we dont search anymore but google something? Well you use the same google to search your mails now and finding your mails is a breeze now, no more complex procedures, simple and advanced to go through. Label them, no more folders With your existing mails, you used to place them in approprate folders to classify them, well that was good, thats what labels do too, so whats the big deal with labels then? Google is just giving us old wine in new bottle right? No they are not - imagine this - have you had a dilemma when a particular mail could have existed in 2 different folders? What did you do then? Were forced to move it to one with a higher priority or some stupid logic that we thought of at that moment? Well with google's labels thats history, now you can mark a mail with multiple labels, so essentially your mail is found in multiple folders, isnt that nice now ?? :)

Greatness of Gmail is its simplicity...

They said that about Gandhi, well Google aint any different either, the interface is so simple and neat, you hardly get lost and are not distracted at all. even the related links based on your mails are all text and you are not forced to click on anything...atleast not as yet ;)

Your wish is my command ...master

I love this part of Gmail, to start with lets see the keyboard shortcuts, if you activate it in the settings, next time you are in your inbox and want to compose a mail, just press 'C' once and open sesame - your compose window is open. There are other keyboard shortcuts which are coool too, but this is the best of the lot :) and my favourite.

Second is the auto complete feature for your email addresses, say I want to send a mail to ram, the minute I start typing the name it will give me all the possible alternatives with the word ram in the email address or the recepients name which I have stored in my address book. No more searching for names, email addresses, checking them and then come back to your compose page. good bye all the mess :)

I could virtually go on, because I have just told you the tip of the iceberg, and they are still in beta mind you, Gmail is going to rock, and unless they make it a paid service at a later point of time, I will hold this account at whatever cost (other than money :))))
