Another background of these creation was the freedom movement of India.The poet himself was highly moved with the violence of war and politics and cruelty of the movements.He had already inspired the freedom fighters but could not gel with the morality and values of some plitical freedom fighters.

Let me tell you another story I just heard today.Wilfred Owen, a British war poet wrote his poems while he was in charge at the battlefield and died there.After his death, a small sample of Gitanjali was recoverd from his pocket.Later on, his mother wrote a letter to tagore about how his poetry influenced his  war-ridden son, Owen.
