Gir national park in Gujarat is only home of Asiatic lions in India.
We decide to visit gir with family.it is almost 400 kms from Ahmadabad.
Nearest railway station is Junagadh and Veraval. Nearest airport is in diu which is almost 130 kms from Gir. We decide to go by road. Let me tell you one more thing, Gir national park remain close on the rainy days from 16 June to 15 October so avoid this period to visit.
We visited in in January. Take open gypsy and go to jungle with guide.They also offer different packages but go for regular visit if you are tourist and not a researcher. Atmosphere in Gir is simply awesome.apart from Asiatic tiger there are Jackal, striped Hyena Indian Fox leopard and deer. Apart from animal there are more than 200 species of birds.so many good hotel options are available in Gir. Gir sanctuary is well developed but the area near to Gir national park need to improve and develop. I really enjoyed my jungle safari a lot.
