I had recently been to Delhi and had to stay there for a couple of days. Since I had heard a lot about Ginger group of Hotels I was very much interested to stay there. I tried to Book the hotel myself on phone but to my surprise the answer I got was hotel was full. But my travel agent booked the same hotel from his IRTC quota for me. Anyway the check in time is 13:00 hrs and check out is 11:00 hrs.
The room I had booked was very nice and cosy. It had a double bed. The rate was 1000 Rs/day. It had an AC, small LCD tv, fridge, and cofee/Tea maker. Tea & cofee sachets were also there. Nice hot water for shower 24 hours and a clean room with clean bed and bathroom is all we want and we get this really for only 1000 rs in Delhi. Whereas I think all other hotels are priced above 3000 rs in the same category.
There is a nice Cafeteria in the entrance lobby where you can get all kind of food for a reasonable price. Its open since morning 6 till night 11. So no need to venture out for good restaurant at odd hours. You need to carry your own luggage but they have Trollies for this so no big deal about this.
what I like was the location. It is right there in the compound of New Delhi railway station. So you step out from the station and you see Ginger Hotel outside or you can even see the hotel from the railway overbridge. But surprisingly the noise of railway horn was almost minimal in the rooms. Mineral water is served for drinking and there is no shortage of it. How often you stay in hotel where you have to pay a lot for water. But here its free. You just need to fill the bottle from the lobby on each floor. If you need to extend your stay you have to pay 500 rs for half day and can have a late checkout by evening 17:00 hrs. Nice facility.
If you are reaching from airport it will take you 40 to 50 minutes drive. Be sure to tell the driver that we have to go from the Ajmeri Gate side of the railway station and not from the Paharganj side. This will help him. Also ask for "RAIL YATRI NIWAS " for directions as it is better known by that name. Cannught place is 15 minutes walking distance and Bus station is 5 minutes walking distance. All in All a Good bargain. Enjoy your stay Folks.
