Aaati kya khandala. Review on Ghulam

Sometimes I think that did vikram bhatt really direct ghulam, because it's different from all of his other movies, other ones were all copied. I think ghulam is aamir khan's best movie where he shows every bit of talent, comedy, emotional scenes and action etc. The movie came out in in 1998, I was waiting for this movie, because exact same story of this movie has been directed earlier way back in 1988, movie called kabzaa with sanjay dutt, raj babbar, amrita singh and paresh rawal.

About 14 years ago a movie called jo jeeta wahi sikander had came out which was a huge hit, the movie had similar starcast aamir khan, deepak tajori and aayesha jhulka, ands same music director jatin lalit and a song called pehla nasha was very popular, ghulam has kind of a similar starcast, aamir khan, rani mukherjee, and deeepak tajori.

Vikram bhatt does a nice job in the direction department, I don't have a lot to say for vikram bhatt, I hate when copies movies word to word even the fight sequences, this has got to be his best movie so far.

Violcene and rage is the name of the movie, with a love story in the middle, siddharth aka siddhu(aamirkhan) is a mumbai tapori, a boxing champion. Siddhu has a brother jai who makes his money through a former boxing champion named rony (sharat saxena I think) who now rules the the community throught terrorzing peope and stealing money from innocent people.

When siddu was a child he saw his father death, this affected him throught out his life, he remembers everything his father told him when he was a child, his father remained with him though he was only been with his father for a short while.

siddhu meets ayesha (ranimukherjee) who rides with a motorcycle gang and charlie (deepak tajori). Where siddhu gets into the fight with the gang, they agree to do something where at last there will be one winner, a brilliant scene in which sidhu and charlie are running towards the train on the tracks and as the train is only a few feet away and he has to jump out of the way. sidhu wins and saves charlie from getting hit by the train. They become friends slowly.

Sidhu and ayesha fall in love when they meet and regular love story follows, with the regular gaana bajana. Sidhu respects a simple guy in the community where he lives whose name is hari, hari reminds sidhu of his father, because he talks the same way. ONe day sidhu's brother jai asks sidhu to bring hari down the bridge at night time, because he said rony needs to talk to hari, as soon as hari reaches the bridge he is killed by rony and his men.

When sidhu reaches ayesha house next day he finds out that hari is ayesha's brother, now ayesha considers sidhu the murderer of her brother. For the sake of his love, sidhu decides to be a witness at the court and wants the murderers of hari in jail.

The music of the movie is pretty good by jatin lalit, the most famous aati hai khandala was superhit, because aamir khan started this when he began to sing in albums as well, then on with sanjay dutt for khoobsurat and salman for hello brother and shahrukh khan for josh. Which were quite famous. Aankhon ne tune se kya kar diya is sung well by kumar sanu and alka yagnik. Jado hai tera hi jadoo byu kumar sanu was sung well, jatin lalit tried to create the pehla nasha pehla khumar magic with his song, but it was that famous as the other one from early 90's. Tujhko kya was a tapori song sung by udit narayan, which was pretty funny I liked that one also.

Performancewise- aamir khan as sidhu is the life of the movie, People say lagaan was his best performance, I thought laagan was a good movie but his best performance has got to be in this movie, his emotions are dramatic exiciting then any other actor in the industry, aamir khan proves here that he can do any kind of a role amar in andaz apna apna, inspector in movie baazi, and loveboy in qayamat se qayamat tak, he is no match to some hakke chakke actors in the industry his performance in this movie proves it. rani mukherjee is allright I am not a big fan of her, considering this was her 3 or 4th movies she does well. Aamir brothers jai whose name I don't know is pretty good also. The other stars of the movie is the guy who played rony, he also delivers his best acting this movie, I have seen him in lot of other movies being a sidekick to a villain, he outdid himself in this movie. Deepak tajori does a good supporting job.

This movie also got the best scene of the year award for the ending for the dialgoue when aamir khan says aamir khan says aae raunik singh yeh apna mohalla nahin apna ghar hai sala, aur apne ghar se apun ko koi nahin nikal sakta. Aamir khan was nominated for best actor as well.

On the whole this movie is worth a watch mainly due to aamir khan's performance.
