Story:

Filmmaker Rajkumar Gupta's first two films such as thrillers "Aamir" and "No One Killed Jessica" resulted in making critics stand up and take notice. For his third one, Gupta decided to switch genres and make a comedy.

"Ghanchakkar", starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi, is a way-out comedy involving a bank robbery, memory loss at the same time a loud Punjabi housewife. The director has attempted to highlight the ridiculousness of certain real human situations in this hard-headed urban comedy-thriller.

Sanjay Athray(Emraan) is a master safecracker who intend to retire from crime and therefore he takes a decision to team up with two criminals to commit one last robbery to make fast money. Sanjay is given the task of hiding the loot so that it could be divided into three shares. When two months later the accomplices return to collect their share of loot, Sanjay refuses to even recognize them. During the intervening time, Neetu Athray(Vidya), who is a kinky as well insane housewife brings into existence a peculiar situation for all three.

Analysis:

Ghanchakkar-review

Rajkumar Gupta who has previously made films like No One Killed Jessica as well as Aamir is known for his intelligence. To simply question what makes a thriller unflawed? It is when the audiences don’t suffer from a single dull moment. Unfortunately Ghanchakkar cannot boast of that. The script despite a refreshing angle lacks a thunderous value of thrillers. Yet, the most critical addition is the story’s treatment that is rare. The fall are the pace and how the writer drawing from a few interesting characters cannot maintain the momentum of his story.

During the second half, the film gets repetitive as well with the number of false alarms excelling, a preoccupied with depressing sense of monotonous will slip. Nevertheless, the beauty of the story is in its unexpectedness and hasty vagueness. Furthermore, it is worthy of praise that Gupta’s vision allows humor to glow minus odd gestures and postures. It is appreciable how the humor doesn't run out. Characters like the local train passenger, who is menaced, doesn't seem unnecessary, making it more humorous. Nevertheless, one would not completely satisfied with the film’s story that’s largely twisty yet begins to shift towards complicated in the end. One would arise with little doubtful about whether the climax managed to save the film’s grace at all, yet the overall package might work out well.

Ghanchakkar-review

Emraan Hashmi, as the lazy husband who loves his TV more than his wife is perfect. He gets every mood and emotion of his character right! From his helpless frustration at his inability to determined information to his guarded tendency of doubting everyone, Hashmi is flawless at the same time distinct in expression. Personal to go with my favorite from the film is when he plans his new bigger and better television with childlike exultant joy!

Accompanying the most unfashionable clothes, a offensively noisy Vidya Balan is first rate in her work. Her confidence exude slowly through the slides. Involving little effort the talented actress brings with simplicity the innumerable layers of Neetu’s character while her dazzling volume every time she says ‘hain?!’ Will crack you up and her perfect Punjabi diction unite firmly her facial appearance. Being the bahu who counterfeit her saas everytime she calls or as the wife who throws away her husband’s food into the dustbin simply due to the fact that he had the boldness to point out the less salt in the dish brings out her noisily jolly side. On the contrary, accompanied by equal perfection Balan delivers a brilliant scene where she beats up the stupidity for attacking her husband. Being in a lesser intense role this time, she gives an impossible-to-miss performance!

The supporting actors Namit Das and Rajesh Sharma have expression of praise brilliantly as a duo. Bringing in the correct trace of notorious element they would be maintain to keep you laughing while they bash up our hero! Going with a good sense of comic timing, the film works off mainly from their considerable amount of performances!

Final Word:Ghanchakkar Movie Review Rajkumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar undoubtedly is far from perfect. Yet it is both overpowering as well as challenging. Boldly making a unique film that refuses to enhance out ready made thriller, expect this one to shock emotionally your gray matter. The film’s performances are debauched, especially that of Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi. I would be going with 3 star out of 5 for Ghanchakkar. It could have been a better film yet it still impresses as a exciting at the same time engaging comic-suspense thriller.
