"Ghajini" I wondered out loud after my wife evinced interest in watching this Aamir Khan movie. I was initially thinking it may be one of those "Gaja Gamini" type of movies.arty ones.then I though tmaybe. Its about elephants or something.or maybe something to do with a woman called Ghajini.but then.the telephone of rational thoughts rung a bell in my head as I finally went online and googled "Ghajini".

"Memento" was the first word I read or rather the most common word on several blogs".with some anecdotes on a medical condition that tags along with amnesia.oh well! Ho Hum!.Another one of those copied movies.

But well.Thats alright!.I had no other choice but to watch it anyways.

The eyebrow of my left eye almost popped out as I stared in loud minded wonder at the attendent in the ticket counter.A crew cut hairstyle with a nice line sutting by the sides.Aamir Khan style.I collected my tickets though and settled down on the comfy seats of Wonder Mall, Thane.without knowing what to expect next.

The head banging body punching theme started almost immediately.then someone got killed.then Mr Khan conveniently forgets that he had killed someone.but then his set of photographs and notes help him understand and re-remind him of his "adhoori pyaas" of killing his talkative girlfriend's killers.

Then there are flashbacks in between.as his past life is revealed somewhat.that was the part that I liked in the movie.the way his diary is linked to his past; it then being replayed and reconstructed etc and then the part where the writings in his diary end abruptly.

The other nice part of the movie were the songs.everything about them.the choreography, the way they were shot, just awesome!.and especially, "Tu meri adhoori pyaas pyaas" wala song.that had me almost get irritated in disbelief at those radio stations that kept playing this song almost every 15 minutes adding to my 90 minute ordeal of driving to office. But well. The video is just so well shot .

Well!.Back to the story. The tattoos and photographs and writings on the wall etc keep reminding Mr Khan of his mission.with some unfortunate help from a tired looking Jian Khan who gives him away(almost) to his tormentor.and yes.thats what Ghajini is all about. the name of the tormentor who kills his GF Asin.and mr Khan's mission to kill him.

But then back to flashback mode.Aamir seems more like a president of a nation with a motorcade of BMW's driving him everywhere.a private plane.et al.and then fallling for a girl(Asin) who vehemently refuses to allow his company to put up a billboard outside her house.

Then he sees her helping handicapped people etc.and he falls in love(filmy.sigh!).then he does not reveal her who he is.etc etc etc.and then finally she is killed by Ghajini's goondas.with Mr Khan getting bumped on the head with an iron rod resuling in Mr Ghajini's terms "Shoort term memory lousss".

And then it ties to the violence that you see at the beginning on the movie.

The verdict - A no no!.The movies gets extremely boring at times. Its as if.I wonder when is it going to end!.The flashback specifically is too irrational, too strained and too long.

I didnt like asin's acting. She looks good as long as she dosent open her mouth.but then that might be her role.

The movie at best it not handled well and could have been a lot better.Aamir khan is okay.not particularly great. Asin is a no no.Ghajini(dunno who the actor is) is ok as well.Story though copied is too loose and the flashback sequences too stretched".

Please go watch only if you are an Aamir Khan fan.and unless you really have an ego issue about appreciating Aamir Khan's movies, you will be back a whole lot disappointed as I was!
