Ghajini” dekhne ki “Gharaj- Nahi”

It is difficult to write off Ghajini, simply because it has a terrific plot, more than average acting, bearable soundtrack and fantastic cinematography. For 2008, any movie scoring well on these parameters will be a hit but the case is slightly different for Ghajini. Since Aamir is involved with this project and if you look at his last 5 movies, the expectations are very very high. Aamir goes all out to promote his movie and pulled up all stops to ensure a great deal of excitement surrounded Ghajini.

In my opinion, Ghajini is a very depressing movie. It is retrograde in everything including the way the fight scenes are portrayed. I do not have an appetite for this kind of action. It also baffles you at many points but we can forget those minor blunders. The character of Ghajini is not clear, it seems he is a MD of a Pharma Company, who wears 10 Gold Chains, is surrounded by goons without any sophistication and speaks in a north Indian accent. Jiah Khan's character was not required at all because it adds no value.

When I got off my seat at about 1.30 AM this morning, I had a heavy head with all the brutal action and there was a lingering thought that my time could have been well spent. Ghajini is not a family entertainer, it is not a super suspense thriller, it is neither breathtaking action/drama. It is an adoption a of a hit South India movie as it is….perhaps with some very minor modifications. This is my opinion is the reason for my dislike. It should have been modified to suit India wide palettes.

My advice to all readers is that Ghajini is a very ordinary movie but has all the right ingredients to make it a success. How is this possible?, quite possible, you have Shahrukh Khan, ordinary in everything but extraordinary in determination, hardwork, conviction which has made him a superstar. Similarly, Ghajini scores on its plot, some very tense moments and a bearable Aamir. I think the saving grace is Asin, she is really a treat to watch and although she does overact, she brings in lot of natural energy to the character.

Recommed that “Ghajini” dekhne ki “Gharaj- Nahi”, you can do much better things.
