I was never so scared of driving before.

A game where you have to drive your car through thick traffic. speeding through narrow lanes, avoiding big pit-holes and big cars trying to ramm you from all sides. But the only differnce is that in game you get a second chance but in real life. well you must be really lucky to get a second chance.

I recently came back to Ludhiana which is main industrial hub of Panjab. OSWALS, HERO CYCLES, TRIDENT. you name it we have it. Its a fast growing city and the traffic problem has never been so sensitive in my city. With thousands of people migrating to Ludhiana and increase in economic status has just increased the numbers of cars and all kinds of vehicles. The traffic problem is over the top and I know many other people from different cities are suffering from same problems.

To be honest the traffic problem in whole country is more or less same. What we lack is proper planning. We only take action when some big problem arises and are hardly prepared beforehand. Every year there is increase in deaths due to accidents.

I witness atleast two to three accidents every week. People have no sense of driving especially the auto-rickshaw drivers who would park there vehicle where ever they feel comfartable. The moment they see someone waving at them, they would push the break in middle of road without any concern for colliding with vehicles coming behind them. With no pollution check buses, tempos and autorickshaws only increase problem.

I hate going outside during the peak-rush hours and even if I have to, I feel very lucky if I return home without a scratch. Strict traffic rules must be implemented but there must be no harrasment on part of traffic-officials. Under-age driving is big no-no and the same goes for people who drive while they are drunk. Big money must be spent on highways and subways. There is so much we can learn from west. I know its not an easy job but its worth trying. Be safe when you drive people.
