Touring Goa off- season has been a harrowing experience for many, several of whom have voiced thoughts on MS. I thought I'd pen some info on Goa during off season, which incidentally is my favorite season. Here are some tips which I hope can help one avoid a bad time:
- Look for accomodation only after arriving in Goa-park your family in a decent restaurant and you can head out to hunt for a place. It wouldnt take you more than an hour to find a nice place.
2.Rely on instinct, check the bathrooms, observe other guests, chat up with family-type guests if possible.
- Bargain.Off season is the best time to strike good rates. 30-40% discounts are realistic.
4.Drop names of other hotels/resorts. Dont let them think you’re a first timer in Goa.
5.Never book package tours from the hotel. Spend time on places to visit before your actual trip. Goa is tourist friendly. An autorikshaw/taxi can ferry you to most places. High bargain potential here too.
Go to places you have decided previously and spend as much time at great locations even at the cost of running short of time for other spots.
Avoid eating at beach shacks(if with family)-just being on the beach does not automaticaly qualify the seafood as fresh!
Dont throw a temper. Talk smooth.
Most ferries are crowded. The music and ambience arent very refined either. But hey, thats a part of the true Goa experience! Just throw your reservations overboard and get into the groove.
Take pictures. Lots of them. Trust me, even disappointing moments could make for a laughable moment much later on!
