A worst EXPERIENCE. Review on General Views on Call Centers

This review I am writing after reading the review on the same topic by ADY348.Well first of all ADY?s review on a call center was really a good, one he wrote a very balanced review.

So in my review I will just try to explain the life of a call center guy/girl?.

I am a CA by profession. I gave my finals exams in Nov 2004.After that I joined Cleave(call center) for a few days. It was really a painful experience.

I went for the interview at Gudgaon office which is around 20 km?s away from my home. I reached there at sharp 10am. I went thru 4 rounds of interview and I got my offer letter at 6.30 pm. It was really a very hectic day for me?

I had to go through 7 days of training and that too at night shift. We were a group of 20 in a batch. There first of all we were given the training to change our voice and accent(or in other words to copy a false American accent). Then we had our process training which was nothing but telemarketing over the phone. I was given a job to sell membership of credit cards over the phone?

After a week we were put to live calling and I became Angelina from Anshita.

In my very first call I got abused by a 60 yr old man, Reason being this was the 6th call he got from us regarding visa card. I started crying over the phone itself then that man started consoling me and said sorry for his behavior and told me his experience. He applied for a credit card over the phone and he gave his banking information and the company in turn took$221.49 from his account and his monthly pension was only 300 dollars. He started crying and begged me if I can help him to get his money back. He applied for a credit card so that he can undergo his heart operation.

My first call gave me a fair idea of this industry. As I went to my team lead and asked for his help in this case he just replied me back that we receive so many calls like this and our job is to remove the number of this guys from the lead. I understood that here guys have no heart but only an urge to sell all fake things.

I took around 400 calls in my first day and I was able to sell 3 cards but my heart was not with me I was not enjoying this job. After that I went back home the company provided me a cab with 9 people from different areas and it took me 2 hrs to reach home.

It was a pathetic night for me. Whole day I spend thinking about that incident and was not able to sleep.

Than I went back to office for the second day and went through another bad experience I got proposed by my team-lead and a few other guys who had no other motto in their life but to earn from here and spend it on every weekend on a new girl.

The guys even gave me the lecture on how to cool and be a call center girl. Even the girls there were like the same league except a few.

I went through this hell only for a week and then left the job. This job not only gave me physical pain but also it shattered my dreams about this industry.

So I joined back my share broking firm and was more than happy doing my previous job.

This review is just a personal experience some of you may not agree with this but just wanted share it.
