My experience of a call center life. Review on General Views on Call Centers

Right now in India one of the most happening industry is of a Call Center. This industry is not only providing good employment opportunities to professionals as well as fresh graduates but also paying a very lucrative salary package along with world class working facilities?.

Every industry has its Pros and cons so in my review I will be sharing my experiences and some facts about this industry?

What is a call center?

Call centers basically are having Inbound and Outbound operations?In Inbound contact centers people across other countries calls up and agents working in the contact centers resolve their queries. While in case of outbound centers agents calls up across USA or some other country depending on the process and sells a specific product over phone to individuals as well as to business houses?basically telemarketing

My first hand experience of a call center

I still remember the day it was 22nd May 2001 just a day after my last exam of graduation that I went for an Interview in a call center?I was really impressed with the building and services provided by the company. I went thru 8 rounds of interview and was the sole survivor out of a group of 28?. It was my first job with a very lucrative package so I went ahead and joined it?

Pros of a call center?

Well there are many positives associated with a call center job?.

1)They acknowledge talent and experience is not the prime requirement?.

2)They pay a very lucrative salary package along with world-class facilities.

3)Basic requirements of getting thru a call center job is excellent communication

skills and good intelligence level?

4)Age is not a factor you can join a call center at any point of time

5)Equal promotion opportunities to all

6)Acknowledgement of talent

*Ill effects of a call center job?

Well there are a lot of negatives associated with it I would just like to summarize a few of them?.

1)Its really hard to clear a call center interview as there basic requirements is Neutral voice and accent and they do not put weight-age on your academic background so you will find thousands of young boys and girls going too far off places from their homes everyday and coming back home disappointed. So this definatly hurts the confidence level of the young achievers?

2)Night shifts: if you are working for a USA process be sure of working in night shifts. Well this is the main drawback of working in a call center this not only affects your body and your immune system but also bring a lot of biological changes in your body. It hampers your body and you become prone to more dieses like sleeping disorders, gastro dieses and it effects your eating habits as well.

3)Your social life gets badly hampered. If you are working in a six day shift make sure you will be left with no social life as most of this call centers are located at far off places you will spend most of the day either at job or in commutation to your place and company. You are left with no other option but to avoid all your friends and going out with them since you need to work in nights. So you might end up losing some of your best pals.

4)Because of your eating habits you will end up gaining either a lot of weight or you will shed up a lot of weight. All because of eating disorders.

5)Now some physiological disadvantages. In a call center in order to grow you don?t need to be academically sound what you all need to be is an attitude and self confidence to lead?so you may find your team lead to be a person younger than you and less qualified than you?

6)Money is not everything, as the experience gained in this industry doesn?t count anywhere else.

7)Most important disadvantage is the affect on our cultural values?a call center job will not only comes up with a good salary package but also opens the gates for Girls/guys/smoke/drinks and even drugs?. People really are suffering from one of these elements?

8)The last but not the least the kind of work profile they offer is monotonous and sometimes really embarrassing as you might end up getting abused by a customer sitting seven sees across.

I would sum up my review now by sharing my personal experience that these jobs are really for short term if you just want to make quickly some good bank balance but for long term they are not going to help you. But for those who can stand and take up the challenges they can really survive and make it big in this industry. As talent has no limits here. Since every industry has its own effects as well so in total you can rate this industry as good.
