After a long silence I am coming up with this true story about 2 guys and a girl living normal lives until they decided to join a call center and the impact this decision had on their lives.
This true story is of 3 characters however I will be narrating the story from the eyes of my first character who is the “Hero” of my story. His name is Nitin.
This is the story of Nitin, Arjun and Deepti. Based on their lives I will be giving you some rules of call center jobs.
This is not a story about the call center job but the impact of the call center Job on the lives of 3 people.
Their Background
Nitin’s background: Nitin was from a lower middle class family. After completing his graduation he had on his shoulders the burden of his family and his sister’s marriage. He was in need of quick money and although he was a university toper but his degree was not good enough for him to get a good job.
So finally he decided to leave his line of education and join a Call Center to earn some quick money.
Arjun’s background: Arjun was from a rich family. He never had shortage of two things first is Money and secondly “Girls”. He was brought up in hostel and always remained away from his family. Culture love and respect these words had no place in his dictionary.
Deepti’s background: God’s most beautiful creation so far. She believed in love and relationship. For her love is only a one time affair that always ending up in marriage.
Rule#1 Most of the young crowd join call center to earn quick bucks or to flirt around with girls. Another aspect is that these call centers pays you very well.
Their First Meeting.
Nitin had 10 unsuccessful interviews before going for this 11th one at a small call center located in Mumbai east. This interview was very important for him because it’s been 3 months since he had passed his graduation and was not able to get the job. Here he was among one of the 30 other candidates waiting for the interview. He reached the spot at 10 am and went through 6 different rounds of interview and finally got the job at 9pm after passing the last round of interview with the HR manager. He already had 10 unsuccessful interviews that grilled him well for group discussions and voice and accent tests.
Here not only he got the job but made 6 friends out of which only 3 were able to get the job Nitin, Arjun and Deepti. This was the beginning of this story.
Training days
These 3 friends joined a group of 20 newly recruited employees for this call center. Arjun had short term plans as he was fed up of enjoying in pubs and hotels. His friends have already been settled and now he was left alone so he decided to join this call center. Deepti was doing her higher studies and in her free time she decided to join a call center. So 3 people with different lives and different goals met each other in this small call center. On their first day they went through all night boring lectures and false voice and accent training sessions for Ajun this was Too much and he decided to leave this job as this was not his cup of tea. Nitin knew the importance of this Job and was the only one with 100% concentration on the training. For Deepti it was the company of Arjun that was giving her a pleasure and something which she was always waiting for long in her life.
Rule#2 Call centers tries to give u fake American accent because of their Job requirements and their training and process requirements are also one of the best in the industry.
Their interaction with the live floor
After going through 10 days of boring training they finally hit the live floor. This was a new experience for all three of them. Till now their reason of staying in the company have been changed. Arjun started liking Deepti and was there for her only, while Deepti was enjoying this experience and company of Nitin and Arjun. Arjun had the worst of his nights when he attended 300 calls without any luck because of his attitude and arrogance neither he was able to greet the customers nor was able to sell even a single product.
While Nitin become the star seller on his first day only he sold the maximum number of cards and this sweet and truth speaking guy converted into a complete liar and crook to earn his living.
Rule#3 you want to earn more than simply lie as much as you can the more you lie the more you play with your words the more you will sell.
Some bad experiences
During the continuation of their service they came to know the reality of call center job. They knew they were selling fake cards and products to people below poetry line in USA. They were selling dreams and taking money out of already robbed customers. They were turned into liars. Crooks and robbers. Nitin knew all this but was selling like hell cause of his family requirements. Arjun had his love interest and Deepti decided to quit the job cause of the pressure and long working hours.
Nitin’s success and difference with his friends.
Nitin was on a roller coaster ride he was selling like anything and soon became the team leader but this had parted him with the other two friends Arjun and Deepti. Arjun on the other hand proposed to Deepti and she accepted the same like hundreds of other couples working in the call center they were enjoying the space and the liberty given to them. In the cab they used to make love and in the weekends they used to go for date. While Nitin become the Team Leader by now.
Reality Strikes
Arjun was fed up with job and his relation. He decided to leave both of them for a girl and left for USA for higher studies. Deepti was broken after this and decided to quit the job as she was not able to live up to the rumors surrounding her. This time Nitin not only gave her the helping hand but also their was the start of a new relation between them. Deepti started going around with Nitin and they decided to settle down for marriage.
Nitin gave Deepti everything that Arjun never gave her. He gave her respect, confidence and ultimately a relation where she can dream of settling down.
But when it comes to marriage Nitin had become the Manger Operations. At that time Deepti for him was a bad investment so he decided to leave her for another girl.
Deepti never came out of this and left the city for an unknown place.
While Nitin kept on reaching the heights by his hard work and performance.
Who is the real winner.?
Arjun: Well no because he didn’t gain anything except a few months of time pass relation and a few quick bucks.
DEEPTI: She was the biggest loser. She got two bad relations and was being ditched badly. Moreover she did what she would have never thought of that is selling fake products and lying on the phone.
Nitin: He is the real “HERO” of this story and the real winner of this story. He gained fame, money and respect and reach the biggest levels of his life.
