Temperature has hit 42 degree centigrade, we’ve burning days and sweating nights(especially if it’s without electricity), we need to give it a thought! One tends to be quite inactive and irritated during summers. We’re more prone to diseases like summer fever, cold n cough, food poisoning etc… this may severely endanger you personally and professionally! You guys must have read - flyingelephant “bachelord’s Maxim “– real fundoooooo review, which suggests hardly anything concrete for summers but once you start reading, I bet you cant leave it in between!
As for now, when summers are getting really hot, I’d love to give my part of advice:-
1. Think Before You Eat – First thing to remember, eat light! Make sure that your diet is light, nutritious and low in salt, sugar, oil and spices etc…. Home- made stuff is always advisable. Include
fruits, veggies, salad. I’d advice every thing that’s fresh and seasonal. Dinner should be extremely light, lunch should have certain restrictions and breakfast should be fresh. Please bear in mind eating outside in summers will surely ruin your day. Fried and oily food is a complete “NO – NO”. Maintain high level hygiene
during summers
2. keep drinking –before you misunderstand me, I shall
clarify myself, drinks does not includes carbonated beverages, alcoholic beverages, those high in
sugar like coke and pepsi etc…. These
drinks havepreservatives, colours and sugars and they are
acidic in nature. This surely implies that they aren’t doing any good for us. Restrict
yourself to natural drinks like fruits juices, lemon juice, coconut water
(nariyal pani is one of the best cooling agent for body), glucose etc…
artificial drinks reduce mineral levels in body resulting in indigestion,
fever and other summer happening illness. Lastly do not drink very chilled
water or drinks. You may not realize,
but you’ll end up destroying your throat.
3. Comfort over style-Make cotton your best friend!
Not only for summers but winters also. Natural fabrics are skin friendly and
will keep you cool. Although black is mostly the colour of season( & is
quite hot indeed) but, it’s surely not on
burning summer’s afternoons. I suggest wearing loose cloths of light colours(
like white, sky blue, baby pink etc…. for both man and woman). These light
coloured cloths not only makes you look
good but are also very comforting. Covered cloths protect you from tanning during
days and from mosquitoes at night. I know guys sleeveless cloths are “in” and
are fun to wear – but not when they’re causing harm to you! After all one must
prefer comfort over style, if you aren’t a super model or something of that
sort.
4. Footwear – Air tight leather shoes or stripy high heels
are out in summers. Well if you’ve no other options other than leather shoes
(for people who’re forced to wear formal cloths irrespective of season), make
sure your socks are of cotton and of really good quality. Wash your feet
whenever you get a chance. Stripy high heels aren’t appealing in summers and
they also cause tanning making your feet look unbearably ugly(this is an
advice from personal experience, now I make sure my shoes are right). Nike,
addidas and other branded Sandals are not only trendy but also very comfortable
and long lasting.
5. Sun protection-Tanning causes major issue of
concern for youngsters. Your skin and hair needs extra care during summers. Whenever
you intend to move out, wear your sun’s cream(obviously of a good company like
Lakme etc). UV Goggles will help cool off the strain of sunlight and protect
dark circles around the eyes. Hair also needs to be washed on every alternate
day as excretion of sweat, dirt etc… causes accumulation of dirt and thereby destroying
your hair. Hair oil an hour before you wash your hair and hair conditioners are
must. Direct contact of sunlight, may even change the colour of your hair. Wear
a cap or a trendy scarf on long outs
6. Bath-fresh – if you’re lazy like me, this is the
most trying section of my lecture. You need to take bath daily. Taking bath at
6 or 7 o’clock in morning keeps you cool all day long. And if that’s not
possible, take bath at any hour of the day(but water gets boiled at 12 o’clock
in tanks)! use soaps and shampoos which have menthol in them. And please do
not relay on extra strong perfumes and deo’es for long – you’ll end up having
many problems. Trust me!
7. Go for a Chill-station – I guess that’s self
explanatory! A holiday in a cold place works wonders!
8. Bed – days are long and nights
are short in summers. Hit the bed soon after 10 o’clock and get up early at
5.30. Early risers always have an advantage of breathing in extra oxygen which
cools down the impact hot air and other illness. And if you’re a yoga freak,
summers can’t do any harm.
9. Stay Away From Little Monsters- little monsters symbolizes mosquitoes and other flying insects. They can bother you at all hours of
the day. Their peak timings are 7-9 pm and just before sunrise i.e. 4-5am. We’ve
have many options to stay away from them, but to my surprise none of them is effective. Keep changing
the mosquito mats as these monsters get immune to these precautions very soon. Summer is
the season for mosquitoes, cockroaches, lizards and other flying insects…. I’d
love if anyone of you can suggest better measures under his heading.
10. Something Artificial-it is often said “if you don’t
have it, then create it” Air
conditioner is a must! well if it’s not feasible to maintain an AC because of
any reason, then you cant think of spending your summers without a cooler of 50-100
liter tank. Well I personally think a cooler is the worst invention on earth. It
wastes water and leaves your body un-freshed with body ache and its extremely
un-bearable noise which you have listen while you’re asleep. Make sure you have
inverter at home and in good working condition.
Enjoy your summers and stay COOOOOOOOOOOOOOl!
