When I first began motorcycling in the 1970's helmets had only recently been made compulsory for motorcyclists. So I always wore one which was good as I fell off and hit a post in the road and was dazed.
Another time a car pulled in front of me as I was travelling down a main road and caused me to smash into the side of it. I was in a coma for days after wards but if I had not been wearing a helmet I would have been dead.
So the wearing of helmets is most useful. It will save your life. It will also allow you to travel in bad weather conditions as it protects you from the rain the cold and from wind blast. It keeps you warm as most of the bodies heat goes though you head when it is lost.
Rain drops hitting your face at high speed are like needles hitting you so a helmet protects you from them. Sound is kept down as well a helmet is like an ear muffler. Having rode with out a helmet on holiday it is no big deal to have to wear one. It is a benefit as you can drive faster insects do not smash into your face all the time. Also you can see better when wearing one as you do not have to squint your eyes in the wind to see where you are going.
So wear a helmet it makes a lot of sense.
