Faber: Chimney reviews are not enough

Review ExperienceAs I am going to buy a chimney and hob, I was looking for at least one review which can give me the idea about the same. But here I have seen majorly two types of review 1. reviews on general 2. about after sales service.

As far as point #1 is concerned, it is good for novice here. But people like me wants to see brand names, model, purchase prices, offer prices. So that if we go for purchasing we know that there are some brands which are good enough to rely on but there are lot many in the queue which offer trouble most of the time and hence can affect your purchasing decision. Thus the experience of users who are using the product comes handy, and helps the prospect buyers.

For #2, this is really an interesting thing to note. I have not seen a single case here which says that the customer service is really good for this company. Even the top brands like Faber, Kaffe, Cata, Glen, Gilma etc. has the same problem... pathetic after sales and customer service. So from above this is sure that we can't count on #2 i.e. after sales customer service.

My Thought...Now I still believe that for Chimney, Faber is the brand. I am gonna buy it. I just missed the offer from them, before Diwali the offer was around 15999/- for chimney and hob combo. But at Diwali the offer was 16999/- with Ganesha pendant free. But now when I am going to buy it the prices are 17999/- plus tax around 500/-. This seems to me a bit costly thing. Finally still I will buy this product. Let us discuss financials also...Here comes the interesting part of the purchase. Keep in mind the following things. 1. Some company gives chimney pipe free with the product e.g. Gilma 5 and half feet pipe comes with the chimney (may vary with models), Faber has no such scheme it will cost you extra. Flexible PVC pipe cost 400/- per meter and rigid 135/- per meter. 2. Installation charges for chimney and hob are extra (unless it is part of the offer). Normally for chimney it is 250/- and for hob 150/- (again varies from showroom to showroom). 3. These guys will come and mark the places for granite cutting, for hob and opening in the wall for chimney. You have to take care of cutting and making openings by yourself. 4. Go for lifetime warranty products, nowadays Faber is offering lifetime warranty but on hobs it is still only one year maximum. Hope you will find the review useful. I will add my experience on my purchase after sometime. Till then bye bye.-------------------------------------------------More Updates for you...Hi! I am back again with some more info about the area of your interest :)Finally I purchased the Faber Chimney and Hob. Got it installed but not used so far, as I have not shifted to my home yet. Everything looks ok in that but be careful about the extra charges... which will come once you will go for installation. Here is what I paid:Chimney pipe: 800/-M-Seal, screws, bolts, hooks: 200/-Labor charges: 450/-Service: I was impressed with the service part of Faber, this is really impressive so far. I just informed the service guy that I purchased the chimney and when can he come to install... and wow, next day he was at my door to tell me the requirements for installations and charges. This guy did not take anything extra but was insisting to go for aluminum pipe... which was costly affair.Things to notice: Installation of chimney was smooth but if you take care of requirements e.g. they need 5" hole-in-the wall for chimney outlet. My advice get it done when the wall is laying out by mason. Also two electric points are required one each for chimney and hob. Get it done before plastering is finished. If you have taken care of these things then only thing you need is cut the kitchen stone... Faber service people will tell you about what size of stone needs to cut and at what place... If this is over, you are well set to go and enjoy the Faber world.Let me know what do you think about the review, if you need something more which I have not covered, drop me a mail and I will include it here... after all this is the review for you.------------------------------------------------HOLA! Your Voices heard... here is the update as you requestedAs some of you requested for more information on my purchase and post purchase experience, I thought this is the right time to write it... let me know if this is useful for you. Don't forget to rate this review, I have written this review for you... so when you go out to make purchase you know what you are buying:HOB Model: MH 40 TR (Stainless Steel, Matt finish, 4 burner)Hoods (Chimney)Model: Topaz 650 (Life Time Warranty)My experience after six months of usage...WOW! I am proud of my decision, so far. I have not received any type of problem with the Hob & Hood and hence became the proud owner of it.The only thing which I came to know about the hood is as below:I received a call from Customer Service center of Faber and she was asking for any problem in the products. Then she came to business and asked for servicing the Hob and Hood. For Hood they charge Rs 350/- and it should be done every six months at least... so this is additional but maintenance charges. As always decision is yours.... nobody will force it to you.Post purchase feedbackDate: Nov 17, 2009So overall I am satisfied with the product, even today. I am feeling really lucky to have made decision to purchase the hob and chimney from Faber. The purchase experience was good and even after 3 years, it is working seamlessly without any trouble. The only thing which you have to take care of is regular servicing. Since I have not gone for regular servicing one of the knob in hob, got lowered and almost touches the body of the hob.. though it works fine but these are regular maintenance stuff which should be taken care of. The chimney suction works absolutely fine.Answer to the question asked by readerQuestion: Which pipe is good for chimney? My suggestion: Check your place where you fit Chimney, if the outlet is close, straight and at a close distance from chimney go for PVC normal pipe. If outlet opening is not straight and have few turns (one or more) go for PVC flexible pipe. PVC flexible is little costlier than the normal one.Best deal advice from meHere is an advice for you on the best deal, you can make and save big bucks on chimney and hob purchase. I have seen the Faber often comes with great offers on hob and chimneys. First of all, check for the current offers from Faber. If there is no good offer, when you visit the showroom, I will advice you to hold your decision for few days and wait for promotion. Normal price can be around 20K or more but in promotion you may get it for 12-13K. Happy saving!!Read review updates on https://ad-reviews.blogspot.com/2010/11/faber-chimney-reviews-are-not-enough.htm
