Fabric Starch
Starching process for different fabrics is different.
There are ready made packets of starches available in the market and all needs to be done is, pour the paste of starch, dip the clothes and line dry.
But there are some people who find it more easier and cheaper to starch with potatoes and rice.
The clothes are dipped in water in which rice is washed or in which cut potatoes are washed. Saves time and trouble and is much economical and handy too.
Just a little note:
Starching of cottons: It is easiest. Many ready-made packets are available in market for the same. The process is simple and inscribed on the pack. Follow instructions careful and make sure not to over starch it. The starch paste should be made very smooth and completely water-soluble. Some starched require to be used with boiling water and some cold water. So follow what’s written on packet.
Starching silk and synthetics:Gum (Glue) paste is used to starch silks and synthetics.
Take little amount of glue and dissolve it in water and use it for starching.
That’s it! You are in for a crispy look. But if you over starch your clothes you might end up looking like a papery man/woman.
And starch smells awful. So don't overdo it.
