Shopping!

Do you enjoy shopping(in India)? I dont! You want to buy a mobile phone and after your "detailed analysis" on the web and reading through pages and pages of reviews and user comments, you choose a phone, you go to a brick and mortor store to pick up your dream device. There starts the ordeal. They will not have a demo piece. The only thing that they will show you is the sealed box containing the phone. You cant open the box before paying for it, you cant switch on and play with the phone a bit before buying. Ok, you still pay for the phone and you rush back home to play with your new toy.

Without reading the user manual(you have already "lived" with the phone as you have seen the 360 view on websites and read reviews), you boot up the device. It works but you find the plastic to be a bit cheap or you find the screen to flicker slightly or somehow find that this is not the device that you had lived with in the virtual world. Your dealer will not allow you to change the phone and dont even think about getting your money back. Same with any other electronic device - TV, camera, iPod, etc. This really sucks. The global model of retailing SHOULD be implemented in India - you can actually buy and "try" the product for 10-15 days and can return the product if you are not fully satisfied. While we dont need this kind of scheme for all products(like an underwear - even this is allowed in the US, I suppose), this should be allowed at least for electronic gadgets. What do you say?
