Certain things have always
puzzled me - have sounded more amusing than questioning. One of them is
the curiosity of people to know what is not there. Rather
than living the moment itself, they will try to analyze what is the purpose of
life? huh!
The market of these Sri Sri
Phalana Dinka Babas has have been on a high because, surprisingly, people want
to know how to live! And as the rule goes, if you want an advice, you will get
ten advisers for the same.
One of the funny incident that
has happened to my friend is that one of his known one is constantly persuading
him to become a member of AOL(Art of Living). And they charge around 300-400$
as membership fees ! Now this fellow
has no good intentions in knowing the art, but sadly lacked the art of how to
decline to his friend’s request without offending his feelings.
He told be about this issue. I
asked him to tell his friend that he has already been enlightened by hearing
the amount of membership fees and the first step he plans to take after enlightenment is his how to save a few hundred
dollars by becoming self enlightened
than by anyone’s courtesy.
And this thing seem to have
become some sort of cult among many. Once they have a guru or whatever, they
will keep on troubling there friends to join the circle, like this is some king
of Amway business. Do they ever realize how uncomfortable they make things for
their friends, and how a constant discussion on their Gurus, sucks big time for
the uninterested souls. I came to meet this friend while he was with this AoL
volunteer and I could easily see how uncomfortable it was for him to
humbly say ‘No’ to this guy.
How ever the funniest part of the
story is does it really take a big effort to understand that Life is simple –
you are born, you live; some happy moments, some sad, then you grow old and
die, end of story! There are certain questions that have a curiosity values,
like at 13, one might wonder what lies beneath chadis, then you come to know it one fine day, and it ends there. That’s it.
I am not sure if this Shri Shri
Shankar Bum Bholenath Babaji Maharaj has any idea that his followers are
membership extortionists! He better tell his morons to calm down and not ask
for money this way. Of course, if he has an agenda to become as rich as
Chandraswami or Rajneesh, then we know what this scam is all about.
