Getting Spammed?

Its not a very big issue anymore... Its like an every day chore. You login to your email account move your mouse across the unkown mails and tick em' all and depress the delete for good button. Ever wondered why this happens on your account? Here is a simple explanation...

You are a person who likes movies..you hover around almost all movie websites possible... reading opinions (MouthShut excluded), watching trailers etc etc. Next day or atleast 4 days later you will find a mail or two mentioning that you are a lucky winner to a pass for two for the premiere of The Village or some other blockbuster.

This happens with the help of a dirt thingy called cookie which lurkes around in your PC while you surf on net and collects your browsing behaviour. Then it reports its master..a server somewhere far off which will then sell your email id to companies advertising for the products that you may be ineterested in. Voila.. you start getting spammed about your favourite product.

I know you must be thinking why you get all those nast nast mails in your account then. Its very simple...once when you loggin from any cafe' ....it depends on the people who actually used that PC. If the person who used it before you has just browsed some porn sites, then the cookie gets in and sends his email accunt and also everyone who uses it. Thus..my friends..starts a chain mail from Jenny, Selina, Amanda, Cindy...etc etc etc asking you to visit thier website to check out their latest poses.

How to get out of this...?? Hmmm good question.

(1) Try to keep off from internet cafes.

(2) If thats not possible..try deleting all the temporary internet files before you start using that PC. (rarely helps though)

(3) At home..always use a firewall (ZoneAlarm, e-Trust).

Have a nice browse....
