I feel very comfortable in using IRCTC.co.in website. Thanks to Indian railways who has introduced online ticket booking system. The best part is just book print and travel.
I cannot forget the olden days where I use to stand in long long line to get my ticket booking. Handling rude reservation counter clerk (They feel as if they are doing some favor or charity) never try to help us.
If we don’t have time to go and stand in line the only way is AGENT….these are people who help us in booking ticket with a service charge( generally 20 to 30 Rs per hear if the ticket is for 5 people then we have to pay 100 bugs which is good money).
Now irctc.co.in is answer for all. Book, print and travel. It accepts all credit cards and debit cards. The refund system is also very good and maintain time line not like other worst travel portal website( I don’t want to take names) who need follow ups in regular intervals for refuund.
Tatkal tickets are the most hot cakes for few trains on weekend (especially on Fridays and Sundays). You cannot get such ticket if you stand in line as the tickets will be finished in few minutes. Only way is to book from IRCTC. I agree that some time the site will be slow, give you few errors but still it is the only way to get tatkal tickets.
I book tickets sitting in Bangalore and send a printout to my parents staying in Visakhapatnam and other relatives in Hyderabad (or else they need to waste hours together in standing queues).
The charges charged by IRCTC is also very less to the charges charged by agents. It vary from 10 Rs to 25 Rs depending upon the number of passengers.
