The CLEAN and PEACEFUL Indian railways
Jul 03, 2009 03:44 PM 2517 Views

One Sunday I was returning to Chennai after a weekend in my hometown Trivandrum. I usually return by the Chennai super fast mail and I am used to its clean and peaceful atmosphere. But this time I got the reservation only for Guwahati Express(Train no:2515). That turned out to be my BEST and most COMFORTABLE 15 hours of my life.

The moment I entered I was welcomed with the SWEET smell as the train was THOROUGHLY WASHED as I could see the dust and dirt settled on the seats and the floor. For one moment I doubted whether I was in the general compartment as BEAUTIFUL and NEAT Gujarathis, Assamese and Bengali workers with open ticket had already filled the so called reserved seats. I shooed one of the away to claim my seat. The later reserved passengers also had the same experience. I was seated COMFORTABLY sharing my reserved seat with the SWEET workers.

Later a family joined in my coupe. The elderly lady went off to the loo just hurry back ina matter of seconds. As I went to investigate I found the bathroom emitting a DELICIOUS SMELL and the window seemed to be too airy as there was no covering. The fate of all the bathrooms were similar.Being a man I could carry out my intentions in the open space but I pity the female passengers who had to carry their load all the way to their destinations.

The beautiful Gujaratis provided ENTERTAINMENT with there DECORATED words to each other. They were also running from one compartment to another in herds as the TTR was doing his rounds.I don't know how many of them came in as form every station they were getting in in herds.

NIght came, I freed my seat andlaid down. This time 4 girls came to me and asked if I could switch my seat wiht them as the Gujarathis were RESPECTING them by gestures. I happily denied the offer as thieirs was aside seat and I would end up with no sleep.( I could have budged if I was a bachelor). So with a little guilt I went to sleep.

It was after Erode or so when I was woken up. The TTR was lifted up to the upper berth as he couldn't control the mad crowd. He was crying into the Phone for someone to help him out. At Salem station the railway police came in and parade out a few of them. But they came back as soon as the train left the station.

I was trying to sleep again when a baby started out its BEAUTIFUL SCREAMING. It was soon a chorous as I came to know that there were a bunch of infants in my compartment.

Finally they calmed down and I started to snore away. Then suddenly I felt something banging in to my berth. I woke uo only to watch the aaction part of my ENTERTAINER. Words were fying with bags, wrists and stunts even Rajnikanth can't do.

Finally in the morining I caught some sleep or better the sleep caught me and finally I was thrown out at the Chennai station. I am thankful to all who made this journey a CHERISHABLE experince
