Sep 08, 2016 07:28 PM 7421 Views

1. Lalbaugcha Raja - Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Lalbaug

When you talk about Ganpati pandals the first one that comes to my mind is Lalbaugcha Raja. Currently, in its 83rd year, the pandal - made from fiber - has been designed as a palace. Around 1.5 million people visit the Pandal every day, most of which don't even mind waiting for 18 to 20 hours just for a glance of Bappa.

2. Goud Saraswat Brahmin(GSB) Seva Mandal, King’s Circle

The richest mandal, known for its "Gold Ganesh" - the idol is adorned with lavish amounts of gold every year. This year it will be under the surveillance of 48 CCTV cameras. This Pandal is located in the King Circle region of Matunga.

3. Mumbaicha Raja - Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, Ganesh Galli

In its 89th year - popularly known as Mumbaicha Raja - is well reputed for its versatile themes and sets which replicate famous monuments and temples of India. This year the Pandal has been designed on the lines of Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district.

4. Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, Chinchpokli

This Pandal has a legacy that dates back up to 97 years, thereby making it one of the oldest pandals in the city. The idol sits on a five-foot peacock throne and is 16 feet tall.

5. Fort Vibhag Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal Circle

This pandal is famous for a Ganesh devotee, Ravi Surve who manages to set up unique pandals year after year. This year the entry gate is 40 feet long and in the shape of an elephant with elephants carved on it.

6. Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti, Andheri

If South Mumbai has Lalbaugh Cha Raja then the suburbs have Andheri Cha Raja. The Pandal - famous for its mesmerizing themes - has been designed to replicate the Kunkeshwar temple this year.

7. Keshavji Naik Chawl Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Girgaum

This is the city's oldest pandal and will be celebrating it's 123rd year. Located in Girgaum, it is one of the tallest eco-friendly Ganpatis in Mumbai.

8. Khetwadi Cha Ganraj, Girgaum Chowpatty

If you are enamored by creativity, then this Pandal visit must be on the top of your list. The Ganpati idol is considered to be one of the most creative ones in the city

9. Shree Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Kastur Park, Borivali

This is one of the biggest mandals in the western suburbs. This pandal has a ritual of having an 8-foot idol every year and is well known for putting up different themes.

10. Shree Ganesh Utsav Mandal, Wadalacha Raja, Wadala

This mandal chooses not to be related to any activities related to entertainment and glamour. They also don't go big on advertisements and prefer to do things traditionally.
