After having researched on various DTH service( Airtel, Dish Tv, Tata sky, Videocon, Reliance Big Tv), I shortlisted, (Tata Sky and Videocon)The shortlisting was based on the service feedback, HD package content and cost including service cost which shouldn't exceed 300Rs/ month.
On further review on the parameter cost with HD content within a budget of 300 Rs incl service tax, I had to go for Tata sky. Videocon said HD (22 numbers in all) will come in South platinum HD pack only which cost around 441 Rs which is close to 50% high than Tata Sky. Just want to let you know that I am a south indian and there is no point in paying such a huge price for all the Hindi HD channels that I don't view. I had given feedback to Videocon, Tata Sky that HD is something even the Upper middle is viewing and there isn't a reason to price HD as a premium unless avid viewers of Cricket would like to view Star Cricket HD which could be packaged at a little premium. Videcon came back to offer a connection and I said 441 Rs is quite high and you people need to be competitive on HD package to get further foothold. Hope Videocon is listing?
Also I gave a feedback for Tata Sky that HD is not something the upper class is for and HD is more even for upper middle. They need to package south pack with more HD channels instead of having Hindi HD channels in them. They can have ESPN HD, CNBC prime HD as part of the standard HD Pack when offering for south indian viewers. This request was sent as a mail to Tata Sky as well. Hope the sales & marketing team of Tata Sky is listening
At the current state, I am just OK with Tata Sky and hope Tata Sky reverts back with good south HD pack within a budget of 300 Rs.
