Everyone is tempted by good desserts.It is the perfect way to end a good meal. Most desserts are very rich in calories.They are feared by weight - conscious people. Naturally, they fear about the increase in their waistline, due to rich dessert!
However, most desserts have many nutritious ingredients like eggs, butter, cream, fruit or nuts. Moderation in the portions consumed is one way to avoid extra calories. Another way is to use low fat cheese, yogurt and sour cream, instead of milk, cream and butter.
I thought of giving you a Canadian recipe for a dessert.It is a tasty dessert, ideal for weight - watchers at the same time!
It is the Sugarless Dark Cake!
Ingredients which go to make the cake are,
2 cups water
2 cups dates, chopped fine.
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 cups raisins
8 oz mixed fruits
1 orange rind and juice
2 eggs beaten well
2 tsp vanilla essence
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 cup almonds, chopped
Procedure:
Boil the first nine ingredients for five minutes and cool.Then, add the remaining ingredients, blend well and turn into a greased, lined pan.Bake at 350 degree F for one hour. Your sugarless dark cake is ready now!
