Mobile Generation is going bye-byes!

Communication technology, which is the use of e-mail and cell-phones today, disrupts, distracts and interferes in our lives. A majority of people have access to e-mail and cell-phones, which are the two main technologies used for communication in the world these days. People at work, people who are students, nearly everyone has this technology right at their side. Although this technology, as some might say, is invented to meet the needs of our busy lives, this technology actually amplifies the disruptions in our day. Because this technology is right by our sides we are constantly turning our attention towards it instantaneously when a message is reached whether it is spam or not, or whether it is a frequent pointless message. This idea of distraction is highlighted in today’s society in classrooms and offices. In class many students carry their cell-phones in their pockets, putting it on ‘silent’ so that the teachers do not catch them out! When a message is received the phone vibrates and distracts the students learning. The elders, dare I say it, also use the ‘silent’ mode in such places as seminars and meetings. The use of the ‘silent’ mode disrupts our lives everyday.

Communication devices are continuously being developed leading to money issues. Today’s society is becoming extremely reliant towards technology. We use it to access the Internet, access maps, to take and access photos, contact people through text messages, voice mail and chat. When cell-phones first came out they were simple and could only be used to make direct phone calls. However today they’re so advanced and to have this advanced technology a price has to be paid. Simple technology such as house phones would be cheaper to use however you can’t have these phones right at your side. This problem influences the use of cell-phones. The problem is the continuous development of the cell-phones and the fad that carries the money issue. New styles come out every season and if you’re not up with them then your type of communication technology is going to go out of date. Nobody wants their phones to go out of date so the keep changing them as new advancements are introduced. This is highlighted today with the introduction of ‘pxt’ messaging. Pxt is when you can take and send photos with your cell-phone.

The mobile generation today expects everything to be done instantly. Today’s generation expect everything to be done by the click of a finger. They have no patience in other words. They like everything to be at the tip of their fingers. This is where communication technology is very useful. It caters to the needs of this generation. Today nearly everything can be done by a click of a button. You can order and have your groceries delivered to your door via the Internet, you can order a pizza through your cell-phone.

The mobile generation rely on communication technology to get a message through. This obsession is leading towards the cutting off of socialisation. Nowadays people seem to rather have a conversation over the phone, through e-mail or chat rather than meeting with one another and sitting done to talk or discuss ideas. If this type of brief communication carries on in society it will extinguish the need for sit down talks which will influence the under-development of society, which will lead to arguments within society due to lack of normal communication. Converse communication helps to communicate ideas properly as the ideas communicated are not short and straight to the point. Using technology to communicate makes the ideas discussed short and brief; they’re not elaborated upon. This can be shown through how people these days talk to their friends via text messaging to discuss gossip.

Having communication technology at our sides today provides a sense of security. This proves that cell-phones do have good uses. When you’re stuck at night on the roads alone because you’re car has broken down, you have your cell-phone to contact someone. Providing this security helps society today with its increasing amount of criminal offences. Providing this sense of security also helps parents to know whether their children are all right and where they are.

So overall cell-phones, the latest fashion device, have a lot of negative issues.
