After reading someones opinion on cell phones, and then reading some of the comments left on it I was going to make a comment of my own. After reading all of the comments I have decided to write my own opinion in this category. Here goes. I know not everyone will agree with me, but maybe if everyone stays a little open minded, we will be able to see where everyone else is coming from...

So many people tell me and others that cell phones are useless, disturbing, a waste of money, and that it is rude to use one.

I'd like to know how long people thought about the use of cell phones before they came to this conclusion.

A lot of the time, when a cell phone becomes a nusciance, dont blame the phone, blame its operator. Just say you were in a meeting or at the movies and one goes off. Yes that's annoying. But cell phones are equipped with vibrating features, and silent modes so that they dont disturb other people. If the person hasn't got these functions enabled it isnt the cell phones fault. Chances are that the person calling may have been involved in an accident and needs someone urgently at the hospital. Chances of this are probably rare, but they certainly do exist.

I know for a fact that when im out riding on my bike, I cant be prepared for everything that can happen. I always have a cell phone on me, and so many times it has been convenient to use. Flat tires, bad accidents and the like have happened to me, and the only reason I got home was because of a cell phone.

Another question, and definatly one I would like people to comment on, why does it annoy people so much when someone is walking through the mall on a phone? What is the difference than walking through the mall talking to a mate in person? As technology moves forward, the boundaries of communication are simply being broken down and communication is becoming more and more simple. it doesn't matter how, and it doesnt matter where. Meetings and the like are obviously exceptions, but places like the mall are public places, and you arent being harmed by people talking to their mates on a phone that just happens to fit in their pocket instead of sitting at home, plugged into the wall.

Anyway, I hope everyone that reads this takes the time to add their opinion in the comments link at the bottom of this page. That is people that do like, and people that don't like the use of cell phones. Also, take into consideration what I have said instead of dismissing it as wrong. You may think twice, you may not.

Thankyou.

UPDATE: after reading the first comment left, I realised I forgot to add something in. If people have received a call in the movies, they should only continue the call if it is important, and if it is, they definatly should take it outside. I think I cover almost everything if I say, cell phone are great, but there is a certain etiquette that needs to be followed by ALL users. That is, think of other people.
