Self experience on Factory fitted LPG (WagonR Duo)

(Updated Mar 03, 2008 04:20 PM)

I have been using WagonR Duo since more than a year. I would like to share my experience and would also like to reply to some of the common queries.

The first preference would be to go for the factory fitted LPG.   Company warranty will remain intact, the engine is optimized for good performance  in both petrol & LPG. Option to refill remains hassel free, since it has LPG inlet at the outside.

If at all you want to go for refitting in any car(old or new), kindly go for the best workshop available, go for the reliable and certified one, and the better ones are bound to be a bit expensive. in the bargain you will get a peace of mind.

Although I have been using LGP since the last year(21st Jan 2007 to be exact), I sometime feel sad that the LPG price is increasing day by day. All said and done, its a fact that the power of your vechile decreases when you use LPG, the very fact is that even if you run the same vechile on petrol you will feel the difference. But, you are saving on the price. This price advantage is also decreasing day by day. I remember the first LPG filling I did was at 24.75 Rs. per litre and the heighest it reached was 37.64 Rs. On one side you are loosing on the pickup/power front, you get less refilling stations in the city and on top of that the price is also increasing. This is a period where I can say that I am not getting very substancial benefit.

But, the bright side is that you are contributing towards a geener world, whatever percentage it is, you are better that others. I feel very proud that I realized this and bought an LPG vehicle to put my share of contribution.

I don't agree with the ones who said that it harms the engine. In fact LPG is the purest form of petrol and it has almost negligible impurity. If your petrol is adulterated, the knocking in your car would prove to be more fatal than the comparatively more heat. To take care of this heating we have very good cooling technology and its more than sufficient. I took many trips to & fro Mumbai to Pune with more than 100 km/hr, I never saw my car temperature reading to go even beyond half of its range. forget about it reaching the danger mark. So, don't think about issue.

People talk about the extra weight in the car because of LPG cylinder. In the bargain your car have more feul. 35 ltrs of petrol and 21.5 ltrs of LPG. So, without refilling you can go to bigger streatch. We do not always run our car with full capacity, I mean 4-5 adults. So anyways your car is running on lesser load than it is capable of.

The lesser pickup is due to the fact that LPG burns on higher temperature than Petrol and once it burns it does not emmit more energy, so in both the count LPG looses against petrol resulting in lesser mileage. We need to accept this fact, there is no way out.

I need your comments on my review. Even though the LPG price is increasing, I wish more and more people should opt for alternate feul.

Have a safe and Green driving.

Mumbai
