This is purely our experience, which I am going to relate here, you can map it to your requirement accordingly….
INTRODUCTION:
We are living in Chennai city. My hubby is in real estate business and he had to make frequent trips almost daily to his field area namely village sites! So buying a car was a natural choice. We were good planners and hence we decided on our Four Stage Car Plan Strategy.
STAGE 1 (YEAR 2004 – 5):
Both my husband and me after serious thinking we bought a second hand ambassador car and after learning all the tricks of driving, we finally decided to go for a new car confidently. During this period ambassador served its purpose well.
STAGE 2:
We did a thorough analysis in Internet, discussed with our friends, relatives and finalized depending on our requirements. Our requirements were
1) Family car with more space
2) Good mileage
3) Comfortable in rough roads
4) Overall performance to be good
5) Safety is a must
6) Suit our budget range
7) Good re- sale value
8) Great look
9) With Power Steering and A/C
10) Nearby Service Centers
Getting all our requirements satisfied in single car was impossible!
We finalized on two cars on performance and safety
Choice One: Fiat Palio
Choice two: Indica V2 DLS
Based on budget we decided on Indica V2 DLS
We finalized on two other cars on Look and maintainence.
Choice One: Ford Ikon
Choice Two: Esteem
STAGE 3(YEAR 2006):
After enquiring the prices at Chennai and Pondicherry we found a price difference of RS 10K and also we found that at pondicherry they were willing to give a further discount of Rs 20K. We bargained for accessories to be given free and succeeded. Finally we bought our car from Pondicherry. We are now happy owners of Indica V2 getting a mileage of 18 to 20.
STAGE 4(>YEAR 2011):
After 5 years we are planning to sell Indica and go for Ford Ikon or Esteem and meanwhile if some other cars come into picture we are planning to keep the option open.
