Maintaining AC
Oct 02, 2014 03:37 PM 104989 Views

India being a tropical country, most of the cities have hot summers. So buying an Air conditioner becomes essential to beat the heat. Here are some tips on how to buy and maintain an Air conditioner:

Depending upon the room size, the capacity of the Air conditioner is decided. Small rooms require 1 or 1.5 ton AC’. Bigger rooms need 2ton or above. Sizing the room is very important to get proper cooling. Always go for an AC with higher star rating(5star). Let an experienced guy come over and have a look if you are not sure. You can opt for a window unit or a split AC. Although split AC’s are more expensive, I would recommend it over window unit because they are very quiet and are very easy to install. Window units are becoming obsolete and companies are stopping to manufacture them

After you have bought the AC, it becomes important to maintain it. We should be patient for the room to be cooled. Many people want their rooms to be cooled immediately.  One important thing to be noted is that the compressor turns ON only after three minutes after the AC turns ON.

Make sure the Air conditioner is regularly serviced. The servicing should be done by a well known technician. The AC must be serviced after approximately 3 months. The servicing should include washing the unit both externally and internally, checking the gas levels, removing any dirt or muck from the vents. Apart from this, the filter must be cleaned once in a fortnight for smooth functioning of the AC.
