Over 100 reviews, now I need to speak. Review on General Thoughts About MouthShut

I have now written over 100 reviews here at MS, and now I feel I need to write another review about my general thoughts on MS. Since I have been here I have seen some good things and bad things happen here, but I’m happy to say that the good out do the bad. So here are a few things that I like and dislike about the MS site and it’s members.

The Good about MS

I have made so many great and awesome new friends here. Most of them of course are from India, but I have found a few from other countries as well. I’m so happy that we can all come together here and write and express our views and opinions on products such as movies, music, travel, cars, make-up and much more. One great thing is “most” the member’s rate fairly and leaves great comments.

I enjoy the M2M service; I have used it a lot. I also love the mouth pad were you can request a “new” product to be added. So far they have always added a review that I submitted. There was only once that they didn’t add a topic that I requested, but I understood why. The topic was about Terrorism, the reason I wanted a topic to be added on that subject was because of all the NR reviews that were wrote on MS in the travel section. I felt some of those reviews deserved a HR, but I was unable to give it due to it being off topic. Anyway I began to think that if there was such a topic to write on then there would be to many MS members writing a review and degrading another country and leaving rude comments and that would just all get out of hand. So I understand fully why we don’t have those topics.

Oh yes I love the email alert system! This is cool cause sometimes I might not be able to be online for awhile but when I come back I have email alerts telling me that my friends on MS wrote a ‘new’ review and of course I have to rush right away and read them and rate them and most the time leave a comment. Thanks MS for the email alert!

I also love the “comment alert”, this is handy because once you write a review and someone is kind enough to write a comment to you, then you are alerted that a comment is there. I love to read what others have to say about my reviews!!!!! Most the comments (or should I say all) the comments are great and encourageing. Some are cute and funny and make me laugh (thanks guys/girls for those types of comments) it’s always nice to have a chuckle during the day.

I feel MS has some outstanding writers here, and I happy that we have a trusted circle that we can keep track of those people that we feel are worth keeping an eye on. I think the owner of this site is great and the site is easy to manage and find things. I have also got a fast response to any question that I have asked, most sites take forever to respond to an email, but not at MS, or at least I haven’t had any problem.

The Bad of MS

I have read a few reviews lately from one member of MS who I feel is acting in a racist manner towards one country in general. I’m not going to name any names here cause I feel that is wrong to do so. However if you are a regular on MS and you read a lot of reviews then I’m sure you know of whom I’m talking about. I feel that this type of writing is not the place to write reviews like this person has been doing. It only stirs up trouble and bad feelings. Then there is the comment section, when you read a review from this person you can see that many MS members including me have wrote comments. Most of the comments however are just as bad as the review was itself. I don’t like seeing that and it pains me to see this going on.

I don’t know if I like the distrust list or not. Reason that I might not like it right now is because when you see someone’s name in the distrust list of someone else your first response might be “hmm why does this person distrust the other?” Then it gives kind of a stigma to that persons name and sometimes you never really know why this person distrusted that person in the first place. I also feel that some people put a member on the distrust list for reasons that are stupid. I have never used the distrust list, even thought sometimes I felt like doing it. I don’t use it because I don’t want to give anyone else the wrong opinion of that member just because I don’t like him or her, so you will NEVER see anyone on my distrust list!

Another thing that really tees me off is when someone gives a NR rate or a SW rate and they don’t leave a comment as to why they rated that way. To me that is wrong! If you had the balls to give a NR or SW rate then please have the ball’s to leave a comment telling the author why you gave it. This might help them better their reviews for the future! Also please don’t give a NR just because you don’t agree with what the person wrote. Make sure you rate it on the style and how well they wrote their opinion.

Conclusion

There you have it! My general thoughts about MS and what is good and bad here, but like I said the good out weights the bad! Even thought we are not being paid anymore for our reviews I still tell others to come to the site and join up! It’s the best place on the net that I have found to met new friends and share our thoughts on things. I hope that MS stays around for years to come, and I hope that I’m able to always write good formative reviews that will help others decide if they want to watch, listen or buy or travel.
