How did I get into the MS addiction?
12th Feb 2002 was the day when my friend Satish (satishkl) called me up at home & told me that his review on the movie Asoka has been put up on a website named Mouthshut.com.( Our tastes with regard to many things especially music & movies match a lot.) I read his review & ventured thought that even I could do the same. Initially I found the name strange but then after a day I got a hang of the whole thing and the reason why it is called mouthshut. On the sameday I got myself registered here by filing up the one of the simplest ever registration forms. As I said earlier I am a bit crazy about music & amongst websites Audiogalaxy. So I wrote one on it. It was a small one but the response & the encouragement was overwhelming.i4net was the first to rate me & Satish was the first to give his comments & later by Sujay, Feather & Jaya. I liked the concept of welcoming a new member and advicing him as to how to go about writing reviews here.
Mouthshut is a place where one can air his or her views without having to open one’s mouth!!! LOL !!!
One can go on & on while writing about MS. Everyone out here knows what mouthshut.com is all about. It provides a platform about airing ones views and opinions about products, places, issues , personalities or anything on the planet earth. Such person may be a professional or an amateur or just an ordinary individual who likes to write a bit. The others get to read the reviews and the members rate the reviews written by the other members & comment on them. One is given freedom to write anything he/she wants to. But natural, everyone has a fundamental right of expression as per the Indian Constitution. Here care is to taken to see that the reviews written by the members are not harmful or hurting the sentiments of members when some reviews are very offensive. Also whenever reviews are copied, the management is forthright in censoring the reviews after intimating the members to make the requisite changes.
Members rate the reviews written by the other members. Here again the other members have freedom of expression but the censorship rule I think does not apply to comments. The comment & the rating tool is often used as a vengeance tool. Just because one gives low ratings to others reviews or does not rate them, the affected member resorts to these tools against the other. Not that such things have happened to me. As of now most members have been very kind to me by rating me lavishly.
Member to Member Email Service:
It is a very effective means for communication between the members. One can exchange his or her thoughts, to congratulate members on feats such as making to the star writer, best debut or the hall of fame or even replying to the comments made in ones reviews.
My MS Circle :
The trust circle is an amazing thing in MS.If I have to mention each ones name in this huge MS community this review will never end. Amongst members reviews I like the most are that of Sujay Marthi,Milind Desai ,Amit Chougale ,Prof. Mohanty,Venchasa, Abababbey, Amrita ,Satish, Pallavi (Jilmil) Jaya Punjabi, Cousin2, Loverboy4u and Mr.Radhakrishnan (prkmids) and many more.These are all stalwarts. I would also like to mention some new members Pooja , Ranjran, giribpai, Just Did It, imran etc whose reviews I are interesting. I will have a detailed review on all my trust circle because there is a lot mention about each of them.
The Mgmt & its PR :
Faisal, Aarti & Jasmine are doing a fantastic job. They have given quick responses to most queries. They add a personal touch too. I few days ago a received a mail from Aarti asking me to put up a proper photograph of mine. I would’nt have been the only person to have received that mail but to add a personal touch to the mail she complimented me on my reviews after read a few reviews of mine & rated them. That really makes one feel good. Also the way the slots provided for Hall of fame, Best debut, Review of the day & Most Hot reviews are real good encouragements to write more. Not that the guys in the hall of fame need encouragement but the others do.
Points that need to be addressed by the management:
The referral scheme has not worked for me. I don’t know about the others.
Also the MS points redemption, I still don’t know whether my points will be redeemed or not & if so how?
So many merits & just a few demerits. That makes me give a High Recommendation for the site. After 20 reviews, this being my 21st I am addicted to Mouthshut. If one has been following my profile regularly I keep stating that this is my last review but the lines there keep changing. Sujay & Pooja have surely been keeping track of the writings & the photographs I change. Seriously folks, I have thoroughly enjoyed this tiny little journey with all u guys here and hope that it gets better in the time to come.
