Ohh I am writing on New Year early morning? Not exactly! My sister was preparing Rangoli yesterday night so I was with her till late night. I was thinking what shall I do? Then I had my eyes on soft board on my computer table where I had print out of my last review about coca cola.I enjoyed reading it after 15 days. I had spotted some mistakes which I could have avoided. I reminded about Mayank who has given nice feedback about review. I reminded about Prof Nair who has given nice guidance about grammar.
Then I realized that this review was posted as HOT reviews and it was there for almost 15+ days. Let me tell you when I was writing this review I was aiming this to be HOT Review. You know sometime, when batsman goes to ground and he feel it is his day. When a person goes to office and he has this inside feeling that he is going to seal a deal with profit which had a long discussion. The same was with me, I was having same feeling, and this review has to be in HOT Review. I never think of my review to be included in HOT Review for any publicity or other reason.I want that more and more people read my review. Even though they don't rate it but certainly put their comments. I love to have comments on my review(Good, Bad or even Ugly).Bad and Ugly comments are always welcome because I think those shows me path to improve. I always take it as constructive feedback.
Now coming to the topic of my review, HOT review. I was surprised when I looked my review in HOT review for more than 15 days. It was not expected. At that time I had a thought that I shall write about HOT Reviews on MS. Here I am writing the review after 7-8 days. So I have written review last night, keep it their for editing and posting it today morning. I wish I have covered all aspects of HOT Reviews and looking forward to comments from your side.
What is the HOT Review means at Mouth-Shut?
There is link at the bottom on left side of screen below link of “Hall of Fame” and above “Mouth Shut Direct.”
Whenever you will click it, it will take the MouthShut server time and gives you updated listof Hot Review with few words which shows that –

It is system base and SORT technology manages this page.
There is no subjective involvement in selection
You never know, your review could be featured here!
I agree to most of these facts. Many of the reviews are most popular on MS. There is no subjectivity involves in it (Movie reviews+ Religious and Politically Controversial reviews omitted understandably.)It is also true that you never know when your review could be featured here. *But in case of some writers or topics we can always guess that it is going to be a Hot Review. *New members don’t get surprised, in 3-4 months time you will be having this sense of picking probably Hot Review. What I don’t agree with is it is not only system based. There human touch involved here.
What I like about Hot Review
It is a one stop destination for me to check good review. *90% time I get good reviews here in the section. I love to read those reviews. I am not a frequent visitor at MouthShut. I wish I can but somehow time doesn’t permit that. I like some writers and don’t like to miss their reviews. Hot review is like tool for me to catch the reviews of those writers.(I have learned that I can set an “Email Alert” also for those writers so I don’t miss their reviews.) **Hot reviews are also good in a way that people get a chance to read and learn from good writers. In this way Hot Reviews are too good.
What I dislike about Hot Review
Hmmmm, expecting firecracker on Diwali. It is not going to be such.
As I told earlier my review was there for 15+ days, I feel it did not deserve that long stay. 15+ days are too many.There are 15 reviews in Hot review section and each takes average 12-15 days means only one review added in a day.
As I told it is not only system base, human element is there because I read somewhere that there were 7-8 reviews of one Member only in Hot Review at same time and all were out of Hot review in few hours. So there is no technology involved here.
We also find very less review of new writers in Hot reviews. Plus establish writers are having more than 3 reviews in Hot review at a time.
Last but not the least, I like to know the logic of selection. Rating or Readers? Comments or Topic? Writer or anything else?
What I like to change for Hot review
In this topic I am going with straight bullet points without any long explanation. I feel all will understand.
- Review shall not be kept for more than 7 days in the section.
- Maximum 2 reviews limit shall be there per Member at a time.
- Equal importance shall be given to all topics rather than few topics.
- Hot review section shall be divided category wiselike Media review, Music review. I feel new look will help us and we need a little change in looks also.
