When I went for the first time ot Gaylord with my Dad, he could not stop telling me the stories of his days when Gaylord was one of the few good places to eat in CP.
Today, CP has become Rajiv Chowk. The once famous theatres like Regal have become the place to see films with more skin than script. But Gaylord has not lost its way. It has transformed over the years to be a hip and happening food place.
We started with the platters - amzingly juicy kebabs - even though we had vegetarian ones. The good thing about platters is that they served with Dal and Naan- which makes them true "platters". The soups were not outstanding, but they were not bad either.
The main course was sumptuos and extrmely different in taste. We had a special Malai Kofta and Khatte Baigan - and I realized that there were still places in Delhi which could boast of good vegetarian menu.
But the show stealer was the Pan ice cream - the amazing pan flavored ice cream was a totally new flavor - which made me think and pause -" after how long have had somehting comple
tely different to eat."
The staff was were polite and the service was as fast as it could be for 7 people.
The cost was about 350 per person - the cost increased by eveyrone going for their own cup of Pan ice cream which was priced at 105/- .. but worth every paisa.
