I have bought a Gateway NV56 laptop from Croma Store at Juhu Mumbai about 5 months back. It was a 64 bit system with 64 bit windows 7 os. Very third day after buying the system started hanging. When contacted Croma, they said that they can't do anything and I have to take the laptop to gateway/acer service centre.
I have contacted Gateway call centre and registered a complaint, and I was asked to take the laptop to Acer service centre on Mahakali Caves road at Andheri East. They could find anything wrong, they kept the laptop there for couple of days and returned.
The the system started hanging often and again complained and the same thing repeated. The complaint was repeated on 28 Oct, 2010, and gave the laptop to Acer service centre at Andheri east. They said that they repaired it and gave it back after a week.
Three days after this, it again started hanging. I have contacted Croma, and they spoke to Gateway Regional office and told me I will get a call. A person from acer (subha_sharma@acer.co.in) asked me to send details of the service number etc. I have sent the case sheet I got from acer service centre on 7th december 2010.
I have not heard from acer after that. First of all the system was bad, it keeps hanging. Then service is very bad. The system is absolutely unusable.
I suggest people not to go for Gateway laptops and Also not to go for Acer as Acer service is absolutely pathetic and they have no clue on laptops and how to repair laptops.
