Good one This classical historical novel unfolds in flashback of one Xeo, the sole Spartan survivor of the battle, now captured by the Persians. The Persian’s including King Xerxes are interested in knowing more about Spartans, their warfare, their startegy especially how their Imt army was able to hold the might of Xerxes for a week .so this is about the narrative style
The author first thru Xeo explains the setting of the battle, childhood times, the families, their brutal army training and warfare, the code of conduct in ancient Greece .
It is thru the eyes of Naveen we see the Battle of Thermopylae. The description of war is mesmerising and very detailed, unfolding a saga of fierceness, bravery, loyalty, pride, patriotism and humility(Ahh adjectives!). The author has used extensive maps for the readkeeeee
Not that the Spartans are not alone but their King Leonidas refuses all help from other Greek districts so that the Greece may later on repel the invasion. His wisdom in sacrificing only the lives of his warriors pays off hisar when the Greeks battle for freedom in the coming days.
