Garhwal a place where I am mainly brought up one of the best places I have ever been for trekking is Uttarkashi.

A place which is peaceful, it is filled with greenery and mountains which are filled with snow

I had been to this place with all my friends when I was in my boarding school in Dehradun; we had two of the guides with 72 of all the children and 5 of the teachers.

Journey had started from Dehradun by bus early in the morning and I think it had taken us to reach mainly half a day to Uttarkashi.

On the way near around to Uttarkashi mountains filled with snow are always visible- known to be gangotri area.

Uttarkashi is famous to have devdar trees which are mainly used in making houses as the wood keeps the house warm.

The school trip was for 3days the first day was full excitement as reaching the Uttarkashi we saw a place which was filled with market specially the fruit market and the farms.

We were tiered and we had planed to stay in hotel called Mandakni. Which was the worst hotel I ever came across we had few other schools along with us, we had less rooms to share. Each room consisted of 4 girls at least.

After settling in the rooms we were taken to a great and famous temple known to be Kashi Vishwanath. The temple is famous for Lord Shiva or for Buddha.

The guides always told us what year the temple had more visitors – April to august, the dictator guide also use to tell big stories like why people don’t come after August as we would reply in stupid way saying maybe the construction may always take place that’s why but guide had to tell his answer and the answer was it always snowed.

The time we had been in Uttarkashi we were taken maybe a lot far from the main Uttarkashi to show the gangotri and kashi border, we were lucky to see the snow bits and some houses which were locked and while we asked the guide about it he told us again big story the people there always migrated to different places. The time we had been in that place villagers had to be back in there homes.

We walked a lot but had to travel a bit by bus to Nachiketatal, here we only trekked for 4 km and we only stopped when we had reached Hasil (10,000feet high), where actually we could play collect pines, go in the water and see the great view.

We had been going around the place for at least 3hrs, in these three hours we had entered a small village which was so beautiful and from the guide’s information Ram terhri Ganga meli hogayi was picturized. Walking on and on we had met some of the villagers which were back in their places with there work.

Walking areas were to thin to make the bus go through them but to our surprise we had covered a lot of area and had come across seven to eight small bridges, while we finished crossing them we came across helipads and ITB (Indian Tibetan Border Police) and we came to know that we were only 30km away from china and if we would have trekked the mountains we would have been in China.

This area had unexpected weather and is famous for its apples. The third day we started all fresh and new we went to Nehru Mountaining Institute where we were shown to how to do rock climbing , they showed us different Museums which showed us all the pictures of all the mountains and there descriptions with description of people who had done the mountaining on Trishul, kamath and Panchuli mountains. Library which was good and the Dometries were for people who like to come there and stay, the place also consisted of Green house.

All together for reaching at this place it took us 4hrs through the bus

Being on trip us lot never slept, we were tiered but the roadside view was great to be watched out for.

Over all the main attraction of Uttarkashi are its people, it surrounding mountains and every different area village.

I had been on this trip 2 years back maybe things must have changed a bit but I am sure the beauty still remains the same and Yeah there is not loads of areas to trek but if you think you would prefer walking rather than bus you actually can travel place one day only.

The last day on the trip was fab, as we had dance party on the terrace with great view. I think everyone must go and have a view of this place its market doesn’t have much of the things but still you can find everything you wish to have with yourself.

At last I hope u enjoyed bit of trip, just think it was only part of things I told u what would have been if you were there for 5 days or week you would just love to be there and who knows you get use to of all these things that you wouldn’t feel like returning back home
