The smarty alec cat named garfield is the most popular cat cartoon ever to be created.i guess because of him I hardly can see any heathcliff comics anymore.this cartoon was created by Jim Davis and from the cartoon you can make out that he was a fun loving guy who loved a good joke.what is it about this cat that makes us want to pick up a book on him and read for hours without any brakes not even stop to look at who else in the room..

well im sure its the cat's personality.even though he behaves like a typical cat his wit and his smart comments is what cracks us up.if it were real this cat would have been the laziest cat to ever be created.so what are his hobbies? its eating, sleeping, eating ,sleeping ................ oh yes picking on the dog too.in the cartoon there are two others characters one of them is his master john and the other is the dog named odie.the dog looks like a real nut though.in this cartoon it looks like garfield more or less runs the house with john and odie at his disposal.he always manages to outwit john at anything and picks on everything about odie.john is portrayed as this massive geek and is love's greatest loser thus leading garfield taking him for a ride everytime which I know is mean but adds to the humour in the comic.that is because garfield has a sarcastic view about every thing.

the sarcasm would be directed to life itself and how it sucks.the comics are mostly about how life goes on in the arbuckle house hold.it shows us all the good times, the bad times , the emotional time all of it with a small twist of humour.to come up with a comic like this jim davis is a pure genius ,where he could make even the most stupid and meaningless comics look good and funny.he even brings out garfield's character very well through his drawings which is think is amazing and he creates situations which would ensure you a good laugh.jim davis even brings out humour in the everyday life of a cat.

even though garfield is a real meanie of a cat he still has the behaviour of a normal cat too.for example - eating, sleeping, wandering around aimlessly, ripping up paper and carpets.the unusual behaviours are those of hating monday mornings, not chasing mice, picking on a dog and scaring the postman.even though the comics do cost quite a packet I could just buy one and read it over and over again for days and not get bored with it.this is also a comic that catches the attention of a person when he/she is rummaging though my bookshelf.for a fat cat it looks like he is larger than life itself.

its a great comic for anything such as a gift or if you are buying it just for yourself because it will ensure days of laughter and its great to read when you have nothing to do or just bored.its even great for those train or airplane journeys.well garfield comics have become and integral part of my shelf and its the first book I pull out before I go to sleep at night.
