To get from Durban to Cape Elizabeth, our tour bus took us along the Garden Route, so we could see the most beautiful part of South Africa.
We could have flown on a connecting plane to get to Cape Town. I'm glad we didn't.
Port Elizabeth is a small city and we didn't stop here.
Along the route we drove along the high cliffs, and looked down on the sandy beaches, that were on the Indian Ocean. From afar we even saw the tale of a whale.
We saw forests, freshwater lakes, wetlands, huge yellowwood trees and wild flowers.
Our first stop was at Hermanus a coastal town. It is built on the shores of Walker Bay, close to the southern tip of South Africa. The back drop to the town is the mountain. We got off the bus and hiked up a trail. Then we went to the Harbor Museum, to use the telescopes, to look at Waker Bay. We saw a few Southern Right Whales.
Our next stop was at Blettenber Bay. We had lunch here, and were given an hour to shop. I bought a few T-shirts and a hand carved yellowwood giraffe.
It was almost night, and so we stayed at the Pink Lodge on the beach.
The patio, off our room look down on the beach. Our bedroom was decorated in shades of pink, (the bedspread and throw pillows were almost white).
Out room had two chairs, a small closet and a chest. The bathroom was had pink tiles, with a sink, toilet and bathtub/shower.
We had dinner and breakfast in their dining room. It had maroon tiles on the floor, dark wood and from the windows you could see the beach.

We drove to George, where our tour bus broke down. It took hours to fix. We were told to look around the town, and buy some food for the trip to Cape Town.
Geroge is half way to Cape Town, and we would be arriving in Cape Town well after midnight.
George is the 6th oldest town in South Africa. It was raining so hard we didn't feel like seeing much. I'm sure it would be a lovely place to spend some time in the summer.
We were so cold we bought the food, and then we asked the driver if he would open the luggage compartment so we could open our luggage.
Every one on the tour had bought some Duty Free booze, and we all took our bottles out.
When the bus was fixed, it was almost sun set. The sun looked like a red ball dropping into the ocean.
We couldn't see any thing after that, so we had a party on the bus. We shared our food and drinks.
Thanks for reading my review.
