My husband & I decided to first go to Ganapatipule in Feb 2007. That was the time when I had quit my job and was really depressed at not getting through anywhere else. As a result, I had begun to become very moody and irritable, esp. towards my husband. This trip was meant to be a chilled-out break for both of us.

We were to go on Sunday morning by Jan Shatabdi and return on Tuesday morning. Our accomodation was also pre-booked at the MTDC resort.

So, dawned Sunday morning, clear and bright. Our train took us through some lovely places on the Konkan belt. Finally at about 11:00 AM, it reached us at Ratnagiri. Since it was our first trip, we were not aware of the bus service from the station and ended up taking an auto right upto Ganapatipule. It took an hour to cover the distance, but the privacy of the auto coupled with the lovely weather and clear, crisp breeze started immediately showing on both of us.

I gradually started coming out of my foul mood and my hubby began to get all romantic.

And then suddenly, we were at Ganapatipule MTDC resort. The experience was truly mind-blowing. The huge resort in all its splendor, our room with the sea waves lapping at a distance of a few metres, the lovely vast bathroom.....I actually started believing that life is to enjoy, not to cry over oneself.

We firstly had a nice shampoo bath after which we hopped to the nearby restaurant for some amazing lunch. This was followed by a meetha paan and we were then ready to crash due to fatigue.

The next thing we both knew was that it was 7:00 PM. We quickly changed and went fora walk in the resort. After having an early dinner, we both slept again.

Monday morning, we both had a nice refreshing bath and first went to pay obeisance to the Elephant God. Once in the temple, we both were overcome by a feeling of divine peace. It was as if He was telling us to hand over all our troubles and concerns to Him. We left the temple, strolled along the lovely beach, held hands, stole secret glances at each other & realised how badly we both loved each other. The troubles over the past few days had taken us very far from each other.

At that moment, I made a decision for life. I made a promise unto myself that I would never get upset over things that are beyond my control and would always thank my stars for having such a loving, understanding husband.

The rest of the day passed in a daze & before we knew it, it was time to leave. Just before taking the auto back to Ratnagiri station, we both decided to pay one last visit to the temple. Hand-in-hand, we had just reached the temple. Once inside, we had just finished praying when I was suddenly called by the priest inside. He simply gave a durva flower from the Lord's garland & told me that whatever I had in my mind would get fulfilled soon.

I thanked him & started moving outside. No sooner had we both reached the temple doors when my mobile buzzed. I took the call, spoke for about 5 minutes & then just sat down on the bench inside the temple compound feeling totally dazed at the sudden development. It was unbelievable, too good to be true.

It was a call from the HR of a big pharma company telling me that I have been selected and I was to meet them as soon as possible for the offer letter.Totally stunned, I could only turn around and say a silent "THANK YOU"  to the deity inside. It was as if He was smiling down upon me.

From there on, the rest of my trip went in the daze that I was in.The next thing I know, I was in Bombay, accepting the offer letter. Its been a year since that incident & we've been to Ganapatipule thrice. But the place still stays as beautiful. So, does my friend in the temple.........He is still smiling upon me.
