Have been to this place thrice hence giving my 2 cents worth...
Do's
Stay at MTDC @ any cost. Else go to Goa.
Stay at delux/sea facing/semi delux rooms in case going with family
Try tents in case going in large group
Try Konkani huts if its only you and your love
Go trekking behind the temple
Ensure having one plate mix pakoda in the evening @ MTDC restaurant
Do try poha @ MTDC/Shivnandan
Having lunch @ temple as prasad and giving away that money to some needy is also a good option
Try Solkadhi with lunch
Buy pickles
Devote atleast 20% of your time at resort at beach/sea
Catch return bus from ST stand in case you are returning on saturday/sunday as 50% of buses dont ply till temple stop on these 2 days
Try and club this visit with rdiganta_bgiri
Visit it atleast once during monsoon
Tea @ MTDC resort
Ohh and yes ...do prior booking @ MTDC website
Don't
Trust local public, as it is a tourist place you will end up making a big fool of yourself.
Stay anywhere except MTDC, room/service/hygiene is pathetic.
Stay at private resorts as they are 0.5 km away from beach and ganapatipule is all about beach (sorry Ganesh Ji).
Opt for local sightseeing, its pathetic.
Going deep in sea, no matter how good swimmer you think you are.
