Describe your trip
We hired a travera from Siliguri and reached Gangtok at 12:30 pm which is approx 4.5 hrs of journey depending on road condition. We were putting up at Hotel Mayur -one of the best hotels with marvellous mountain view from Room.
We started for Lachung at next day morning and we reached at eevening when it was pouring heavily there. So it was roughly 9hrs journey. Lachung offers package tours we opted for 2nights 3 days.
What time of year did you travel?
End of May
The next day we started for Khatau mainly due to driver's pestering for supposed snowfall due to previous night's downpour.
What did you like or dislike about your trip?
We reached Khatau after an hour when it was very unclear due to cloud and fog. Khatau was all snow covered. We were walking down the snow when suddenly the sun rays started pouring in through the clouds and in few minutes the peaks surrounding us were all blazed up in golden. For moments sky was clear blue with Kanchunjungha clear in front of our lenses. The magnificinet himalaya broke its marvellous grandeur in front of us.
We cancelled trip to Yumthang as due to snow fall all the orchids had died
There was nothng to dislike in the trip as we were not expecting anythng. It was just a break
Return to Gangtok
What would you do differently next time?
Perhaps the travel plan...We would explore Nathula pass etc which we missed out !
For whom would you recommend this trip?
Families, Couples anybody who loves mountain and who knows how to manage in extreme conditions. Not for people who wants luxury only
