Gangtok is my favorite place .I have visited this beautiful tourist location two times First time in April( though it was not cold) and second time in November .We stayed in M.G.Marg, the heart of the city .Its beautiful.Many good hotels, curio shops are lined up.The next morning we went to visit 12 locations in city .Rumtek and Ranka Monastery are beautiful and situated far from city .
Buddha statue, ancient masks, pagoda mesmerised us.We visited zoo and it was very uneven and we were gasping to see Himalayan animals.We visited dordulchorten .Its also a monastery .We visited orchid house .We saw 1000 types of east Himalayan orchid and flowers .We visited chogiyal palace .It was beautiful and depicts tribal life .Then we saw two waterfalls.
One is Banjafri fall and it is nourished with rainwater .We visited tashiview point and ganeshtalk- hanumantalk.the environment was picturesque .One info I share here, in gangtok shops restaurants are closed within 9-00 and 9-30 pm.Hotels are cheap, medium and expensive .Holiday homes are available at cheap rate.The bus stand is at Devrali location in the hill city .
We visited tsomgo lake and nathula border and of course old and new babamandir .Its a one day journey .In November the tsomgo lake was partially frozen .cars Canberra hired from M.G.Margin area .The weather is cool in June - July seldom temperature crosses 27 c mark .
