I played quite a while on this site and it was pretty good. As someone who has played on many chess sites, I was at first very happy with Gameknot, despite the very heavy advertising footprint. As well, they continued to pester me with request that I start paying them money for what they called "premium membership". With all the free chess sites there are I saw no need to pay these people money for what is billed as a "free" site.
I played some 32 games on the site, and then suddenly I was informed ".rules violation detected" They insisted that if wanted to continue to enjoy the site it would be necessary for me to purchase a "premium membership"
Having read their complete list of rules, and knowing that I had in no way violated any of them, I tried to email them several times. I was sincere in my request to find out how this misunderstanding had occured yet my emails were never answered.
I may only hope that the companies advertising on Gameknot have a much clearer picture of the importance of both truth in advertising, and the significance of following through on the problems any particular client may have with the product in question.
