I bought a gallon of this at my supermarket when it was on clearance for fifty per cent off, and now I understand why. The moment I took the cap of the bottle, all I could do was gag from the smell. The product smells clearly like strong, cheap, french perfume. When I did a load of laundry with it, I had to rinse my clothes about 10 times and there were STILL suds in the rinsewater.
After they were dried, stains suddenly re appeared, and there was a horrible waxy coating on all the synthetic fabrics. The clothes reeked of strong, sweet, french perfume. I threw the rest in the rubbish, and will never buy Gain again. This is one to avoid that is even worse than tide. There is no way i'd want to walk around smelling so badly of french perfume. I recommend people stay away from Gain, it is a most horrible product. As bad as it is, I actually think that Xtra does a better job of cleaning, and doesn't leave behind a disgusting waxy residue when the clothes come out of the dryer.
